    For 19" guys...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Looking to do some type of mesh spoke 19's soon and had a couple questions. I have an 04 Moro blue w/ Sport Suspension.
I basically want my car to look like this guys (Eleventh & Twelth pic in...black-non painted lowers)
Is this anyone on AZ's car?

Is this car not lowered (factory SS)?
    Are there spacers involved?
Are any of the 19 guys running spacers?
Hows driving year round with them? Bad in the snow?

    Thanks

    Re: For 19" guys...

As most will tell you here you should probably lower your car. THe 04 sport suspension
isnt that low, and you will still have some ugly wheel gap. The total diameter of your new wheel setup will be very close to what you are probably running right now, so it is a good indication of the wheel gap you will have (people will just see more rim and less tire)

here is a thread that has pics of non-lowered b6s with 19s on the 02 SS
    (even lower than yours)
    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=124328

i wouldnt recommend driving in the snow with your summer 19s.
Get some proper winter tires and do yourself and all the other drivers on the road a favour.

I love my wheels (keskin kt-4s). I thought the ride would be very harsh but its not. I dont run spacers because I have very wide wheels, so I'm on the verge of poking out the fenders a bit. but I think it looks good anyway.

If you get wheels that are wide enough you dont have to run spacers.

Your car looks badass, BTW on the stock SS. Whats the wheel width and tire width?
I wouldnt run summers in the winter, lol. Thats just silly.

Urgh, the 11th and 12th wheels? I think those are the ugliest mesh wheels you can buy.

    How about some HRE C20's
? That's a proper wheel for your Audi.

    Re: For 19" guys...

Just got my 19's on a couple of days ago and was worried that I would no longer like the way the car drove/too rough/etc. Well, I can honestly now say that the difference is extremely minor, and I probably wouldnt have been able to really tell if wasnt forcing myself to think about it while driving.

Im not using any spacers and I dont plan to upgrade my suspension (2002 sport). With an 04, you might need to lower it to make it look right.

If you do 19's, gotta lower. I would really suggest a coil over, so that you can dial it in perfectly. As far as spacers go, depends on the offset, and wheel width. If on an 8.5 ide shoot for a 35 offset, or around there. If you go with an 8.0 shoot for around the same, or even a 32 offset. HTH

that's probably A4DIT's car in the a4mods gallery.
    that car didn't have spacers.
coilover suspension is needed with 19" in most cases

    Re: For 19" guys...

The car you speak of on A4mods is running 19s on factory sport suspension. It doesn't look bad, but there is wheel gap which bothers most people. The reason 19s are bad in the snow is because you can't buy anything but 'summer' high performance tires for 19in wheels. So its not really the wheel size that sucks, its running a summer tire in the winter, which yes...has hardly any snow traction even with quattro.

I havent researched all season 19's. Didnt know that.

Maybe I'll just do 18's then in the same wheels?

That was my initial impression when I went from stock 17's to 19" BBS CK's. After stepping down to 18's, I could very easily tell the difference in ride comfort for some reason. The weird thing is that both of my 19" setups were wrapped in all-seasons, which usually give a more comfy ride than summer tires. I have summer tires on my 18's.

    Re: For 19" guys...

I checked tirerack and they do have a few high performance all seasons in 235/35/19. Less than a year ago when I bought tires they did not (nor could i find anyone who) had all seasons in 19.

So go 19 and add all seasons if you plan to drive them year round in snowy winters. (18s in the same wheels will look to small, any wheel with a lip appears smaller)

Do you have a photo of your 19s on '02 sport suspension? Curious to know how it sits on my car seeing as I have the same suspension (for now).

I just put on 19" wheels and went with a F1 all season tire. I have the factory UltraSport suspention. We don't get much snow here in Charlotte but it can get cold. I feel better prepared for various temps as well as an ocasional snow shower. Check out my pics in "My Gallery Images."

Ill have some pictures up within the next few days

It looks pretty good to me. The front has a little bit of gap (2 fingers), while the back sits really nice. I dont track the car or anything like that, so im not doing any new suspension "just for looks" - it looks just fine to me!

I've found, with my 17s or 18s, that there is a gap (measured from the top of the tire) in the front but the rear sits just right (can't see top of tire).

That was my old car, good eye Maverick. It had sport suspenson which to me was not low enough. The rims were 19x8.5 RPM's and had no spacers. This is what it looked like a week before it was hit and totaled, it had H&R sports on it-

A proper wheel for an Audi is one that has a 5x112 bolt pattern. Stock wheels are 1pc cast, and pretty heavy to boot. So pretty much any aftermarket wheel will be an improvement (unless it's oversized: 20"). The rest is just subjective taste, nothing more. I'm not saying you are, but suggesting that expensive = proper, is just snobbery. The A4 is an affordable entry level sedan. And by now, the B6 can be acquired for peanuts.
