The left tail light bulb socket contacts can be bent upwards a little bit, to eliminate the likely loose electrical connection to the bulb contacts when the bulb is in the socket. This is a common cause of intermittent lamps on Audis. The strange activation of the other lights may be caused by either a faulty or possible wet Central Electric Control Module, located with the relays under the steering column. Try and scan the Central Electric Control Module for possible DTCs, if the controller can't be accessed, it's a sure bet it's faulty.
