    Crazy Speedo

Since I went stage 3, my speedometer and gas gauge have been going crazy. They both fluctuate and dont give anywhere near accurate readings. I am also getting throttle cut at about 5,000 rpm intermittently. I replaced the Vehicle Speed Sensor today and that did nothing. The car's original ECU was a T-Box and i'm now using an M-box with stage 3 software. Before I start searching for a pinched VSS wire, has anyone ever experienced this isuue? Thanks in advance.

once or twice, my speedo read 10mph when stopped, and kept at 10mph difference throughout that drive. my speedo took a shit on me in my maxima once. because of an electric short.
This has never happened to me since, so i consider it an anomaly. knock on wood. hope you figure out what's happening. The speedo is pretty important!

did you recode the cluster after the swap of the ECU's. As for the gas reading i would say it's the fuel pressure sender that went bad.

I just bought a 2000 s4 and I had to drive 1100 mile home from getting it. On my way home in Nashville, TN I hit a back rain strom and my speedometer did the same thing but is a couple hours is went back to normal.

No, I wasn't aware that I needed to recode the ecu, is that done thru Vag software?

Haha that happens to me too, after i wash it or while it rains my speedo doesn't work, my odo doesn't go up and my gas gauge bounces around.

My allroad speedometer does same thing after car wash/heavy rain.

Anyone know what the cause is? Is it VSS? or something else??

    Re: Crazy Speedo

I have run into this multiple times working at the dealership. The only fix I know is run new wires from the speed sensor to the cluster. Its no small job, but I can almost guarantee that's the issue.
