i just finished my h&r sport/bilstien sport install today and i noticed i am getting a thumping/rattle type noise and a relatively rough ride. i was told by someone i may need to cut my bumpstops. which im pretty sure they are correct because i checked the bolts and everything is tight. im just wondering if i should cut the top or the bottem off? does it matter? how much should i cut off? do i even need to keep them on? thanks guys!

    Re: bumpstops.

Is it only when you go over bumps in the road? If so, you may be taking the front's back off. What happens when you install the spring onto the strut, is that the spring keep tension on the rod, that holds the top nut on, and it does not fully seat, causing alittle bit of play/area when the suspension is fully loaded. When you installed the springs, how many threads were showing on the top of the nut? There should have been 3-5 threads showing, the more the better. If you did not use an impact wrench you may have a problem all so. HTH

Hrmm, well I dont know then. I am having a similar problem, but only on passanger side, and I dont have a harsh ride, but I beleive its the sway bar end. The bolt was messed up, so Its not 100% against the endlink.

I know that everyone say's to do this, but how the hell do you do this? I mean its easy to do the lower shock/strut bolt is easy, but uppercontrol arms, and top strut bolt?

    Re: bumpstops.

What that thud is probably the top strut bolt, but after you took the car off the jack did you tighten the top three bolts for the strut mount.
