    Hesitation at WOT, need help!

    Hi,

I need some help to diagnose a problem. Recently, my car is having some hesitations at WOT. The car jerks at WOT and you can actually hear, it sounds like “shhhhh, stop, shhhh, stop…” until you let go of the gas pedal.

I suspect I have a boost leak, can anyone confirm this? DV gone bad?

Also, I found a fault code 16395, does this have anything to do with the hesitation?

The car is stock by the way and it is a 02 A4 1.8TQM.
    Thanks

    16395 - Bank 1: Camshaft A (Intake): Retard Setpoint not Reached (Over-Advanced)

cam position sensor or expensive little motor that changes the intake timing on cold start.

you have any issues when the car starts up cold?

any '02 model requires new check valves, braided vac lines, a new dv (my forge which is several years old is holding up good), and a boost smoke test probably not a bad idea. heat kills in our engine bay.

is that fault code intermittent or did it set off a CEL?

    No cold start up problem.

No CEL either, it is just intermittent like you said.

i'd give it a one over on the vac/boost lines then. alot of weird stuff goes intermittent when common items fail. when i had a nasty N80 leak i'd get codes like rear o2 sensor intermittent; fixed the problem and never again seen the codes. same thing with the green cts and water neck that it plugs into. caused some crazy codes to fire off but after fixing the obvious problem -- gone.
