    Re: help!! with TCM

www.car-part.com ? is the tcu married? get a used one and stuff it in and do the vag-com re-train on the shifter. might ask around to see if the tcu needs to be coded to the ecu as that might require a dealer to handle without the SKU (if its necessary).

    what killed it? water?

The part number is 8E0 927 156 AA, There are a couple on eBay priced a lot higher than you should pay. If you google that PN, often a seller's website is found, I recently bought a B6 TCU for $199. The TCU does not need to be coded or married to the ECU no SKC is required, just install and go. What is the specific reason the dealership says the TCU must be replaced?, that is, what exactly is the problem that is supposed to be fixed by replacing the TCU?

I guess I should have asked first, is you trans the 5HP19FLA or the CVT?

In either case the tiptronic function error and the back lighted shift display can be caused by a problem in the shifter and depending on the DTC codes, may not have anything to do with the TCU. In the case of the shifter HAL sensor issue, replacing the TCU won't fix the shifter problem. What are the DTC numbers that are stored specifically?

    Re: help!! with TCM

I know that it has six gears when was working and the code that it was coming out is that there was a communication error with the transmission control unit, and sorry to make this harder but my mom toss out the codes since she didnt know what was for can i get the codes from autozone? Also i already took it to three mechanic shops including the dealer and the three of them gave me the same answer
