    Might be a ridiculous question...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
...But I'm in the market for a new suspension setup, and my buddy offered to cut his (stock) Jetta springs and mount them on my car to check out possible ride height(s). Does anyone know if they will work? (again, temporarily)
Did a serach on this and came up empty.

BTW I'm thinking of the Eibach setup (shocks and springs). Could anyone spare some pics of their suspension setup...
This, I didn't do a search on, just thought it made sense to have them shown on this thread as well... So please don't flame me.

Cutting them will ruin the spring rate and you'll be bouncing all over the place. Buy new ones.

Also, over time with the cut springs they will slowly break off little by little and you car will get lower and lower. The ride is terrible too no matter how great your shocks are.

    for good reason

but even if you claim its temporary, why?? why not just wait till you have the money to get real springs and shocks?

I should have been more clear... By temporary, I meant JUST fitting them on, and immediately taking them off.
And as for his springs, he's gonna trash them anyway. But you guys are probably right anyway; I think I'll just photoshop it lower.

Why go to all that work? There are plenty of threads on here with pictures of Eibach setups.

Not sure about Jetta springs, but ours are cone shaped, so if they are cut they will be wider and not fit the perches.
