    injector issue... please help!

i just got done installing my phenolic intake mani spacers and a new aux water pump...
well i got everything put back together and i start the car to do checks and i hear this ticking. really loud ticking that comes after about 2 minutes of idling.
vag com says cyl 3 mis fire.
i reach down while the car is on and unplug injector 3 and the ticking goes away.
do i have a bad injector?
how the fuck could it just go bad from being taken out and put back in..
    grr

double check and make sure the o-ring is sealed and not pinched or anything. could be an air leak.

    Re: injector issue... please help!

i swapped cyl 3 injector with cyl 6 injector
the ticking still stays at cyl 3 and vag com still says cyl 3 misfire. ....
that pretty much eliminates a bad injector...
    any ideas?

i have no clue. ive had a misfire on cyl 3 for a while.. i couldnt get rid of it. im thinking i had this problem for a while. either that or my dumbass dropped something in the runner... but i dont think i did as i was very careful and the motor idles fine. either way i have 120psi on 5 cyls and 70psi on cyl 3

So no runs? J/k, that sucks. I had a cylinder 3 misfire that wouldnt go away too, but thankfully, turned out to be an injector.
    Cheers! David

uhm.... i went to autozone and got a compression gauge that you screw into the cyls (where the plugs go) i unplugged all the coils and cranked the car and then went cyl by cyl.
i have no idea what a wet compression test is...

Before you take the whole motor out I would double check your work on putting in the spacers. If you didn't have a misfire before and then you install spacers and now you have a misfire I would suspect that something got installed wrong. Maybe a gasket is out of alignment.

ive always had a misfire on that cylinder. im going to pull the intake off tomorrow to double check the work.
would a misaligned gasket cause 50psi loss of compression on one cyl ?
i honestly think i had this problem before-hand. i hope somehow the gasket is incorrect or something

The intake mani gasket shouldn't affect your compression at all if the intake valves are closed.

    Re: injector issue... please help!

I remember when i was doing this install, didn't end well for me either.
I was careful but not enough. When the car was back together i had misfire's on cylinder 2,4. Did a compression test and had bad really low compression in those cylinders. long story short. i spent enough money to be stage 3+ and i still have a troublesome stage2+.

    best of luck.
