unlock gas tank hatch

okay soooo my central locking pump took a shit on me...luckily i filled up my tank the night before because that shit is locked...is there any way to manually unlock the gas hatch???? because i doubt that im going to get it fixed by the next time i have to fill up...help me

while were on the topic...does anyone elses gas hatch not sit flush with the car? mine closes about 3mm more than it should...causing the lock to squeak cuz it rubs on the metal....

the actuator and vac lines are in the trunk on passenger side above the pump behind the trim and padding. thats all the info i got, never ran into that issue.

Have you dug around in the area near the fuel door? From inside the trunk? The lock pin has got to be held in somehow from inside there. I would think you can remove it somehow

There is a rubber stopper that you can play with to make the door sit flush.

friend of mines stopped working when he pulled into a gas station empty haha. so we put paper around a key and moved the pin that way (no damage to the car,sounds like something awful,but it had to be done otherwise we wouldve been stuck there)

Look around in the trunk near the fuel door. On the avants there is a red (i think) plastic (?) handle/finger pull that should release it. Its probably not in plain sight so dig in. (remove jack, tools, may have to lift a flap etc.

what side is your tank on? my tools and things are on the driver side,not pass...

Not true mines a 2000 and it locks. I learned the hard way I went to get gas and the guy is like open the door. I'm like it's manual there is no button or locking feature(I'm new to the car only a few weeks old to me). The guy is telling me that it's locked and I'm thinking it's busted or something like that. Finally he ask me did you unlock the car? I'm like WTF does that matter? I said I'll try it anyway..... and of course it opened. He then looks at me and say's yep you have a locking feature. Obviously I felt like a dumbass lol...

OP, check your owners manual. It explains quite clearly in there that if you pull the trunk lining away from the passenger side of the trunk, there is a backup system there to unlock the gas filler door...
