How do you take off the clear lens of the gauge cluster??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I got rings and a carbon fiber bezel for my gauge cluster. I got the cluster out no problem & separated the two halves. But the stock bezel is glued or something to the clear lens. How do you separate it so I can install the new bezel? It adheres with 3M double stick..

Please help asap so I can reassemble. Thanks!

Is it maybe like headlights where you have to bake it?

Sorry to hijack but I'd actually like to replace mine (swirl marks), is this possible?

Meguiars makes a plastic restoration product called Plast-X, heard great things about it on clusters and headlights.

Re: How do you take off the clear lens of the gauge cluster??

Good Ol' Ebay! The bezel did take some finesse, cause it was a hair too big so it wanted to buckle in some places.. But a heat gun & some extra Krazy Glue for extra adhesive made that work out.. Pretty happy with the results.. Took way longer than the 30 minutes I expected lol.. Baking it helped a lot. I left it in for like 10-15 min @ 180 deg. Pried open a lot easier and didn't break it.

End result, especially installed, looks pretty tight. I also hve a really nice carbon fiber ball shift knob that matches nice. Now I need an RS6 carbon fiber trim kit :)

Looks great! I've ordered mine several months ago and have yet to install it. Too little time. I'll guess I'll install when my CF kit is ordered for the interior. Right now, need to have my bumpers and bonnet refinished and replace the drivers' side fender and have it all painted....Oooouch $$$$$!
