    A little summer interior project

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Figured it was time to tear something apart so I decided to tear the headliner out and do a suede wrap over it. Removing the headliner itself wasn't to bad help from some buddies and it was out in no time. Putting it back in after the wrap though wasn't as smooth because with that extra layer of fabric it fit a little tight around some areas. Hopefully the glue will hold with the summer heat but only a few areas ended up with some minor wrinkles. I think it turned out pretty well but comments are always welcome...unless you don't like it then I don't care I haven't put the little sunvisor in behind the rearview yet but planning on doing that today.

No sorry guys I should have though. I looked for a DIY and kind of found one but, my buddy that did his MK4 jetta helped me. For the most part you just start with tearing off the pillars then undoing all the bolts on the top along the like airbag rails. I think there was like a few more along the front of the headliner and then you need to drop out the sunroof to wrap that sliding piece. I know thats not really that helpful but maybe someone else has done this and kind of knows how...

Re: A little summer interior project

yeah my initial thoughts were to not do red but I ran out of fabric when doing the other pieces so I went back to the store and saw it and thought it was gonna be a good idea. It looks better in person of course and at night its cool with the matching gauges and the interior lights.

How in the world did you get the rear shelf out? I can't get mine out of my car for the life of me!!

And did you pull the headliner out through the trunk or out of one of the doors?

Re: A little summer interior project

Looks good! The quality looks really tight. Just a suggestion: How about instead of red, re-do those parts in the grey, matching that of the trim? I think that would really go well with the exterior colour of the car too.

you have to pull off the rear C-pillars to take the rear shelf out. I found this out after a couple hours of cursing and throwing tools

I just bought the suede from the local fabric store. I believe it was a microfiber suede.

And did you pull the headliner out through the trunk or out of one of the doors?

The headliner I pulled out of the side door...just put the seat into layback gangster seating then slide it out with a little manovering.

I'll try to get a pick up with the sunroof open sometime this week for you guys to.

You need black lights, grab handles, and other trim bits, and the red just looks way out of place man. Not feelin it, but if you like it, that's what matters.
