    Thumbs up RaceTec FMIC Install

hey, after long last my racetec fmic arrived... but with the wrong bracket! no worries though, AE shipped out the proper one and i sent the old one back, so no worries.

i'm planning on installing the kit today once my car cools down (did about 60miles on the hw in 90degree heat) so i'm looking over whats in the kit and stuff, and i'm wondering where this black hose connects to.

yea i stole the pic from docurley, but it came across in my search as to what it goes to...

also one more question, about how long should this take to do? removing the bumper and headlight is pretty easy, and since this kit is pretty much plug and play, it shouldn't take more than an hour or so... right?

ps before and after pics once i'm done

Its for your diverter valve. I received my fmic a while back and the same problem happened to me with the bracket. I will also be doing the fmic install this weekend.

i would say three to five hours depending on how nice your bumper wants to play mine was a bitch. there is alot of cutting involved and just a piece of advice make sure you tighten all the hoses all the way especially the one coming off of the turbo i thought mine was pretty tight so i took it for a test drive and the hose blew off the turbo and it sounded awesome but than i had to push the heavy ass home.

everything i've heard about this fmic is that there is no cutting and you retain oem fogs (i dont really care about the fogs, since a rock shattered one already...)

Well, he does not have a racetec, looking from his pics. Thats why he probably had to cut a lot but for us it will be minimal hoepully. I dont even have fogs so nothing to worry about there.

    Re: RaceTec FMIC Install

i'm a lazy bastard, so the easier the install the better. i mean i coulda went cheap and gone with the "$150 A4 fmic setup" but i really didn't want the hassle of chopping, grinding, crying, and swearing at my car for hours just to get a damn core mounted behind a stock bumper

You shouldn't need to do any cutting with the racetec, even the core sits behind the bumper support which means you dont even need to cut that.

what are the dimensions of the racetec? why cant we just source out an ebay special with the same dimensions of the racetec so we never have to cut? are they special? just wondering.

    Re: RaceTec FMIC Install

I did a racetec and it sat too far out so a little trimming of the bumper was needed
