    Overheating/Head Gasket issue

    Hi Guys,

About three weeks ago my 98 A4 2.8 30 valve overheated. Temperature gauge spiked to hot, flashing light and chime followed. It was in stop/go traffic and the temp outside was 88 degrees and I had the A/C on. Turns out the fan clutch bit the dust. Replaced fan clutch, after car came back the car continued to overheat. Tech pulled plugs on left cylinder bank (if you are in the car), and they were soaked with coolant. He diagnosed it as a head gasket being blown. Now, here is my question- Normal? The thermostat was replaced about 5 months ago along with coolant. What are the warning signs of fan clutch going?

    Thanks.

    Re: Overheating/Head Gasket issue

Your car might run hotter than normal. That's about it.

Head gasket could be the result of overheating.
