    APR Stage 3 turbo install...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Anyone know where exactly (with pics showing direction) the SS lines included in the kit go? I know one is an oil and one is a water line, but I just cant figure it out for the life of me.

Also if someone has an install manual/PDF, could you email me?

    Thanks!

Re: APR Stage 3 turbo install...

Go to the ATPturbo.com website and click on the GTRS elim turbo, and it iwll have a link for the install there.
There should be 1 oil feed that loops around the engine to around the oil filter. 1 oil return that goes near the drain plug. 1 coolant return that goes to the side of the block, and 1 coolant feed (hose) that comes from the radiator line

Re: APR Stage 3 turbo install...

Ok, not really getting anywhere on my turbo (clutch is done though..) as it looks like I am missing some pieces on my kit...

Anyone know where I could get these? Im going to hit Ace, then Kragen tomorrow morn, and my local speed shop on Monday.

    Thanks!

Re: APR Stage 3 turbo install...

You will not find those parts at a local parts store. Did you buy the APR kit used? If so you try calling APR to get them or email 034 and show them what parts you need, they will be able to help you out.

BTW there isn't a bango bolt on that long skinny braided line. That is the oil feed line that goes from the oil/coolant exchanger to the oil inlet on the turbo. Bango bolts are used for the coolant lines..

But its an open line, similar to the picture below.

Im pretty sure I can get the fittings locally, but the bolt on piece I dont think so.. Where does it go? And for that matter, where exactly does that big line circled connect to? I see where it connects on the turbo, but I can not figure out where it would connect to on the other side...

    Thanks!!

Re: APR Stage 3 turbo install...

The thickest line there is the Oil return line. The coolant return line should have banjo fittings on BOTH ends. And I believe the Coolant feed is just a hose.

Re: APR Stage 3 turbo install...

This kit is different from the ATP kit, Whats show on the above is what I was given (minus the pieces shown)..

So if the big line is the oil return line, then does that mean it bolts up to the oil pan? With the piece that I am missing?
Ifin that be the case, I should thus be able to use my old oil line that is bolted to the block, cut the hose, and use a nipple at the end of the SS return line to connect to the cut hose?

Now the oil feed line has one banjo fitting on one side and one screw in fitting on the other. I would assume the banjo fitting goes on the oil filter side and the screw in goes on the turbo side, as I couldnt seem to screw the fitting in the oil filter side due to space.

Scratch that... I thought the old line had a hose in it.. no such luck...

Will the old line work?? Or is it too short?

Re: APR Stage 3 turbo install...

I used my old Oil feed line, but I think there is a possibility of not having enough flow. I would call APR and ask them if you can use the stock oil feed line. And yes, the oil return line does go to the oil pan and is attached with that piece you dont have.

Well looking at the kit it looks like you use the stock oil drain line and stock coolan hose that goes to the coolant pipe.

Re: APR Stage 3 turbo install...

    Hey Andrew,

Just looked through my box of little misc parts and I do have that flange and banjo bolt you need.

The oil feed banjo side is going to go on the oil filter housing and then from there its going to go into that little brass colored piece which is the oil restrictor. That little piece next to the oil restrictor is a adapter for the older style oil lines to convert them from -4an to what ever the threads on the 1.8 oil filter flange are. Your not going to need that since you have the newer style lines. I have the banjo bolt but I couldn't find the 2 copper sealing washers for it you.... you could prob get those from any murrays or autozone though.

As for the that big line in the picture its the oil return line there should be a flange still screwed into the one I gave you.... that side goes onto the bottom of the turbo not sure if I gave you the allen bolts to install those flanges but your for sure going to get new gasket for them. I have a couple of extra allen bolts that I'll send you along with the flange and banjo bolt

As for the coolant lines I thought you just re-use the stock coolant lines. I have 2 extra coolant banjos bolts if you need those.

Heres the links for the gaskets and restrictor. I actually have the restrictor but if I were you I would probably get a new one since the one I have has seen its share of use. I'm not sure if the oil feed line is -3 or -4 so you might wanna call APR tomorrow before you order the restrictor.

Holy crap thats one hell of a resistor! I'd be worried about blowing my seals with my current , no restrictor setup..

Joey, Check your PM's.. Im going to have you USPS overnight the stuff you have including the resistor, although i'll order one from ATP.
Let me know the shipping charges, and i'll paypal you it.

    Thanks!

Well, I didnt get my USPS stuff yet, so Im going to have to proceed without.. I do have the resistor so we'll see..

I cant wait any longer to get this car going. Im going to have to modify the old parts and use them.

    Sigh.

    Im at work.. Sigh..

YES I GOT IT!!! Check your PM's, USPS isnt as reliable as I had hoped, but at least I have it now!

Bout the only thing I did yesterday was mount the button for the program switch... oh well. I put it by the hood release, no way for my foot to hit it, and its out of sight!

Re: APR Stage 3 turbo install...

    Ok then...

Now im having trouble finding a female to female connector for this.

The oil hose has a male, and this piece is male to male.. Also the oil hose has a larger dia than the restrictors available from ATP (I know.. I bought all the ones they had). I have 4 connectors connecting the two but nothing that will hold the flare line...

Im really tired of this shit. Ive spent like 40 bucks in connectors now, and I need to be running tomorrow (I wanted to be running yesterday so I could work out the bugs...)

Re: APR Stage 3 turbo install...

You have it all wacked up. The oil hose goes like this... Oil filter housing>banjo side of oil hose> regular side of oil hose into the compression side of the restrictor (left in the picture)> restrictor goes into turbo.... unless I left the restrictor on the turbo I sent you in which case just unscrew the old one in the turbo and put the new one in. You don't need any other fittings.

Screw the restrictor into the turbo first and from there tighten on the hose.

Actually if the hose is male I might have left the restrictor connected to the hose.

Just post up a picture of what you have.

How in the world does your oil feed line have a "male" connector? You sure it just doesn't already have a fitting screwed into a female connector?

Thats pretty much what I've come to find out.

I have currently been running it with all those adapters and I have no leaks and no issues. However Im going to put the proper line on order and do it right.
