Got offered some $$, should I dare??

Well, probably like 3 or 4 days ago, was driving around my local town and pulled into the wawa. I came out and had a 20 year old or so kid ask me about my car and if i was interested in selling it ect.. Of course, I said no, but for the right price maybe.. He then said how does 11 or 12k sound? Figured it was a joke, he took my number.. Called me back today. I am really contemplating selling this, and getting a 01 to run maf-less . But I cant seam to find one real cheap. Is it worth it, I have a built bottom end/stg 4 clutch lwfw in this car + a lot of exterior shit and other stuff and in the process of going 3076. If I could find a 01 for around 5 or 6k, do you think I would lose money in the end after building the engine and, all labor done by me of course. Thats my real thing, would I be losing money or making money? o yeah would be going into an avant also. What do ya think

I would guess 7-8k to find a good condition low miles 01... Just keep in mind that you will ALWAYS loose money selling. I would pry the kid for 15k and if he says no keep it and go 3076. just my $.02

well, I WANT one that is high mileage, low mileage is of no concern to me, just cant find any like that. the motor will be getting fully built. Forgot to add that in.

well in that case, search around a few weeks, you could pick one up for under 6k easily. Just pull as much off the old car as you can and DO IT!!

If I was offered $12K for my car it would be sold in a heartbeat.

How far along the process of the 3076 are you? Built bottom end, clutch F/W,... Exterior mods don't really count for anything when it comes to resale.

I'd say you'd be losing money in the long run. You'd have to find a car that either had a popped engine(T-belt go bye-bye), or just high mileage. I've found numerous '98-'00 for $5-6K, but no 2001's. How much work would it take to convert it? harness, couple sensors and an ECU?

Shit. I'd take that in a heart beat. I'd sell my 01 BT for $9000 in a heart beat.

your 2000 cant run mafless. If you didnt notice my car is a 2000. ha, yeah well I was considering everything I have put on my car, just to see how much. I've realized that I would lose money, but at the same time its hard to say no to that. Maybe i'll just find a 2001 with a popped tb, messed up head. I have a full head sittin in my garage, now to just find one.. Would save me some serious cash doin that. Think that might be the only way to get into a new car and still not lose money re-building everything. hmm..

maybe the kid doesn't really no what he's doing. Take some stuff off of it and save it for your next build! Since you don't NEED to sell, feel him out a little bit....
