I had mine out and back in the first time in 7 hrs. On my back. (including lots of photos and installing my new clutch and flywheel) I even drained the bastard.
I can do it now (dickin around) in 5hrs. Last time I pulled it, by myself I had it out in less than 2hrs.

EDIT: Did I mention I used a 4x4 on top of a jack with it all ratchet strapped together? Just to get the trans in and out. A buddy was borrowing the trans jack, so I had to improvise.

    Hard, No. Time consuming, Yes.

If I were to recommend it to another inexperienced person I'd say do it over a day and a half. Take your time, it's easier to do it right, than have to go back and correct it.

I kinda made a DIY clutch install on my cardomain site... Linkage

well should be pretty fun. I just put my South Bend stage 4 OFE clutch and fidanza flywheel into my car, and it is extremely stiff. Is it normal?

the only special tool you need is a triple square bit for the front axles connected to the tranny.

If you are used to a OEM clutch then yes it will feel a little stiffer, someone said you need to apply 50 lbs of pressure to the pedal vs 30lbs with the stock clutch. Plus the fact that you need to push the pedal further to get the clutch to fully release it might feel even heavier. It will take about a week to get used to it.

And you really do get used to it. My SB OFE with SS plate has been in for years and seemed very stiff when new. Now it feels very light like a stock clutch. I have to push on it with the other leg to realize that it is still very stiff. It just isn't a big deal. I destroyed my left knee 18 years ago and have had a couple surgeries including replacing the missing ACL and removal of most of the cartilage. Got a handful of titanium bits in there too. If my bionic knee doesn't care neither should you.

    Damn... That sucks.

I hear lots of good things about the Southbend/DXD setups. When it came down to it SPEC was able to get it to me faster, and for a little bit less. I'm happy w/ my setup.

As far as a stiff pedal goes... The Aussie twin disc in my roommate's Vette takes the cake for cars I've had anything to do with. The couple other VAG cars I've driven w/ upgraded clutches all feel pretty smooth and linear.
