i am in the process of installing my snub mount and i noticed that both the stock and neuspeed snub mounts are a good amount smaller than the housing they are supposed to sit in. is this how it is supposed to be? i always hear about the mount having to be shaved and this and that so that it can fit into the housing. am i missing something?

I installed my APR mount and it went right in no problems. The new mount should be bigger than the stock one you have.

I think most of the people that talk about shaving them are talking about the center hole not the actual OD size.

is it supposed to be REALLY tight when putting the snub mount on the engine mount part? because it took me and a buddy about 30 minutes of constant spraying it with PB blast, wd-40 etc and pressing it to get it in..it took forever and was ridiculously tight

No it should, but then it sounds like you didn't search about installing a snub. The correct way to install it is by heating it in a microwave first to make it soft enough to pop right on, heat it for about 10 seconds each time till it is warm to the touch.

Crap, you're supposed to heat that thing up? Good thing I had the car in the service position when I did mine. I just took the whole intake pipe off and stood on it to get it on. Wish I would have known it was much easier than that. I did search when I did it, but no mention of heating it.

Excalibur and Vaseline does the trick.....Excalibur is that 2 foot long flat head screw driver that you never really use for anything.

When someone says they have to shave the new snub, it's because the new one actually puts pressure on the snub housing, which will cause vibrations through the body of the car...hence you shave it down so they no longer are in contact.
