After 15k miles and 10 plus track days, I finally burned up my 18" Falken 615 tires and feel like I can graduate to R compounds. So I bought a set of 19" rims and all season tires for the street, and put a set of 18" Toyo 888 race compounds on my Wedsport rims.
The 19's are Tenzo-R type M version 2 in a 19x8.5 et45 with Toyo Proxus 4 in size 265/30. I was going to go with a set of HRE P40's or DPE S-10's, but at $4k plus for just rims I decided to get something cheap for the street and put the money towards a bigger turbo in the future. Even though the Tenzo's are cast rims made in Thailand, I like the unique look of them along with their cheap price tag. Plus they have the right offset to run 265's all the way around (and the Proxus 4's run narrow). The only thing I don't like about them is that the spokes "spider" out beyond the tire so they are exposed to curbs easy. The good thing about this though is that they have shit loads of clearance for any brake design. Overall this set up is quieter, safer, and smoother than the old 18" Falken 615's. The Tenzo's are about 25lbs while the old Wedsports are 18lbs so the car is a tad slower than before, but I'd rather save the lighter forged rims for the track anyways.
The R888's on the Wedsports below are 255/35. I tried a 265 but they were way too wide. These tires run super wide, so a 255 in them is about the same width as a 265 in a street tire. They are pretty gummy to the touch so I can't wait to try them on the track.
