    GIAC Chip Problem?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Okay... I have two ECU's one chipped... one stock. When running the GIAC chip, my car will occasionally just shut off. Sometimes it while sitting at a stop light, sometimes when I am cruising down the road at 40, other times while I am doing 80 down the interstate... I see no pattern, it's just like a random shut off... no CEL's.

Any ideas? I have never had a problem with the stock ECU...

Maybe your chip is disconnecting from the encryption board occasionally....

Had the same problem with APR chip due to bad/loose soldering. Was getting a CEL though....intermittent power to ECU and could hear clicking sound under the dash. After shipping the ECU to APR for re soldering all was well.

    Re: GIAC Chip Problem?

As previously noted, it is likely a loose solder joint causing an intermittent signal from the chip socket to the ECU. I have a solution for you. Check your PMs.
