    A/C Help Needed!

Ugh! I hate not having A/C in the summer!!

My car is not blowing cold air at all. And I have a strange buzzing sound coming from (I think) the A/C condenser in the engine compartment.

I thought I was running low on R-134a so I bought a recharge kit. Hooked it up to the car today but first decided to check the pressure... It was between 65-100 psi, when it should be under 40!!

It would go to 100psi, then slowly go down to 65psi during which time the A/C lines would get colder. As soon as it reaches 65psi, the buzzing sound starts and the A/C lines would become warm again. So obviously it's not low on refrigerant.

Any ideas what could be wrong and how long it would take to replace it? I'm supposed to go out of town on a long trip this weekend. I'm thinking of taking it to the dealer first thing tomorrow morning (CPO warranty) and see if they can fix it by the end of the day. Any other suggestions? The car is '04 B6 1.8T. The timing of this really blows

    Thanks in advnace!

If the pressure is too high, you may have too much refrigerant. If the pressure is too high, the system maybe cutting the compressor off to prevent damage from over pressure. I think it is time to bring it into a expert Automotive HVAC technician.

x2, plus the cans you bought are not REAL R134a its like a knock off freon. You need a A/C licence to buy the REAL stuff.

Another thing, don't tell the dealer that you attempted to recharge the system yourself, it may void out the CPO warranty.

    Thanks for the suggestions, guys.

I dropped off the car at the dealer this morning, but I didn't try to recharge it first. I meant to, but didn't. I plugged in the gauge to see how much pressure I had first, that's when I saw that the pressure was way too high. I didn't put a single drop of R-134a in the system.
