Wheel Repair-Curbed lip on Sportecs

Well after letting my girl drive my car (I was drunk) she curbed them. Now its a pretty deep rash and I was wondering how do you go about fixing these when you want to have a polished lip.

Should I fill it in with bondo and spray paint the rim or go to a welding shop and have it filled in and fixed professional. Time is sort of the essence here b/c I have to go back to school next thursday so I don't know what the turn around would be.

Dude that really sucks, I would definitely not Bondo it though.
Especially on those rims I'd have it repaired professionally

There are certain wheel shops that fix damage like you had done. They get them looking brand new again. Woody's wheel works in Denver does great work. I'm sure you can find someone in your area if you search around on Dex.

yeah the problem is that they wanted 1000 dollars to repair them. I personally do not see that as financially responsible on my part.

I'm going to shop around and find some shops to get it what I want. Frustrating given the fact that I have little time to do this and I have ran into some issues such has there being a plastic coating that the shop could not get off.

I've paid $250 a wheel, $1000 for all four, but those were Stock M35 rims...How bad is the damage? You may be able to sand, smoothen and polish the rash out without bondo.

well its this. The powder coating place where I went does excellent job. They wanted $500 to strip and coat. My problem is that I want the spokes to be brushed the lip to be polished also the inside of the spokes to be silver. I had my bro chemically strip them b/c the plastic was bad but there were some drips on the back side of one of them, so I have to do inside the drum too. The Old Wheel Shop wanted extra to do the insides.

Well that seems like a lot more man hours are needed to do all that work instead of just fixing a curbed rim lip...

oh no. I was orginally going to go with satin black sportecs but I realized that I like the brushed look so now I'm here. That 1000 is without that special stuff.

what you want done isn't going to be cheap, any way i see it.

if your brother stripped them and you like how they turned out, use some steel wool to clean up the faces-or you can use a dremel with a cleaning tool to better the "brushed" look.

As for the lip, with curbage that deep you may be better off sending that out to get repaired...at least that way you can ensure that it will look good.

You can paint the centers yourself, just tape off the spoke faces and go to town with a couple layers of paint and clear...but if you got the whole thing stripped i would just leave the inner spokes brushed as well and just focus on repairing/polishing the lips.

yeah that uses bondo and I do not want to do that. I am going to a machine shop and they are going to run a bead of tig weld on the lip and other problem areas and they are going to smooth it down for about 80 bucks.

So that is what I'm going to do.

All said the redo has costed me

1) 20 bucks in stripping chemicals
2) 20 bucks to my brother
3) 10 bucks in sandpaper and polish
4) 80 bucks in welding

so 130 is not bad for a complete refinish

well I guess that's a Chinese thing. She is the only family member I have, she sacrificed a lot for me. I am willing to do whatever to make her happy.
She doesn't have to worry about retirement because that's part of my responsibility.
Drive the A4 is nothing, but of course I am nervous the whole freaking time. I ask her a lot of questions after she comes back, such as did you hit any curb, did anyone scratch the car bla bla bla. haha, she always joke with me about how badly the car is damaged.

well the girl that did it, is a german au-pair who has actually driven on zie Autobahn. We were pulling for a dinner in georgetown and rubbed it. I cried but when I got these rims for 1200 with new tires ahh I got helluva a deal.

I'm also trying to pick up some 18" BBS LMs for 1000 bucks =) would need to run adapters but ohh well.

btw I do let my mother drive my car but uh yeah she scrapes it up. The car is going in for a complete redo and USP transform on monday. $1200 for front bumper, fenders, rear fender, 5 dents, and rear bumper.
