Ipod/Iphone Holder Solutions

Anyone have any advice on where to get an ipod/iphone holder for our cars. I did a search, but couldn't find much from our Forum. Help would be appreciated. I'm going to get an Iphone tomorrow and can't wait.

Wait to get the iphone!!!!! i have the 8gb and can upgrade to EVERYTHING you are getting. Wait 3 months they are gonna have a 36gb with 3g service!! I think its only $100 more. Also search but seriously this has been covered recently...and i know i know i'm the king

I did search! LOL. Everything was under B6 and B5 forums. I'm getting the 16gb 3g tomorrow. That will be fine. 32gb is a lot. Plus it will make the phone bugger.

yea i filled my 8gb with over 1100 songs even tho i took all the movies/shows off. Wish i would of waited for the 16gb. Your gonna LOVE it!! at first it was weird, now i cant live w/o it!! maps ect...internet..wheater..and obviously the iTunes for the gym ect.. A cool feature is when your at the gym with the music playing and someone calls it will stop the music, go to the call(which you can hear through the ear buds) then call ends, back to where you left off on the song..its GREAT. Congrats on the new purchase

I've been considering putting a dock in the ashtray slot, but it may be a pain in the ass to get to (it blocks the A/C and the gear shift blocks the iPhone).

I've had trouble finding regular plug-in car products for the iphone. It works with all other iPods but not the phone...I tryed to hook it up to my friends iPod glove box one but it did not work. Hopefully you find something

The dock should work with the iphone. My brother has a dock in his car from like 5 years ago and it works with the iphone.

"doesn't support" as in no audio is played or "doesn't support" as in a little dialog is displayed on the phone but you can still play music through it? i had a belkin 12V adapter with line-out from my old ipod 3rd gen that works just fine, and i also had an ipod2car unit in my truck that would give me the dialog but would still play music and control the phone's music features.

my fault, i was mistaken! when i connected my iphone, the screen said the iphone is not supported. but actually, you can play music from your iphone, and it works. the "unsupported" message was in regards to the phone functions.

If that's the case, then I'm just going to take the DICE unit out completely and swap it out with a brand new one. Anyone interested in a DICE connector?

you can use your iphone to listen to music using the DICE. i don't think you can use it to answer/make calls... at least according to the message that pops up on the screen.

but i use the bluetooth on my stereo. i've never tried plugging the iphone to the DICE and making a call at the same time. i would expect you to be able to if you have the bluetooth kit though.

Hey...when you install the dice connection, do you have to disconnect the power source from the NAV unit? If you do...do you have to re-enter the access code?

my iphone still worked as a phone plugged into the iPod2Car adapter, but the phone speaker didn't play through my car's stereo. if you've got the DICE and no bluetooth support in your car, i'd suggest getting a BT earbud/headset. if you *do* have the bluetooth adapter, the iPhone should connect through that do to phone stuff and then switch back to the DICE to do music. (again, no DICE here, just that iPod2Car unit a while back.)

yeah, that sites product i posted above maintes all functionality of the iphone while docked. that's what i want. i do have bluetooth.

i have bluetooth (it's now the law here in cali), and it works fine with the iphone plugged into the DICE. AudiWxGuy, since you have bluetooth, you should have no problems. oh, and i have the symphany II, but i didn't have to re-enter my radio code.

The proclip mount with DICE crade should work fine... glad to know the bluetooth still works, even though I already have an iPod

yeah i considered the ashtray mount as well but it's harder to see the screen and use the clickwheel when its that low.

AudiWx, I have the proclip mount for my iPod touch with the Dice setup. The proclip mount really isnt that bulky. Plus, i can easily rest my hand on the shifter and touch the screen on the iPod to scroll through songs and everything. I looked at the ashtray mount but didn't like it b/c it blocked the A/C controls.

I'll get around it. I think it's one of the cleaner mounts out there. Plus, the DICE doesn't work with the iphone correctly....

That's what I'm going to buy. They're located in ATL, so I'm going to head over to their shop and buy it and have them do the install. But I'm going to be switching out everything over to what they use. I want to be able to keep the iphone unlocked while docked. Appearently with the DICE unit, it works as an IPOD but the phone usage gets locked out.

However, if you have a dice unit, you can buy the ash tray dock and plug your dice into it. Looks great.

Just went to get the iphone. They sold out before I got to the front of the line. I placed my order. A black 16gb iphone 3g is on it's way to me, though!

I could care less about using my iPhone as an iPod in my car. Audi's interface is terrible.

But I would like to charge my iPhone without having to pull out the charger w/cord. My 2008 has a cell-phone dock in the armrest. Does Audi make an adapter to hook up to the cell-phone dock in the armrest console?

all that stuff should work fine. i think the error message is just to point out that you can't use the dice to make phone calls through the radio... but having the bluetooth package fixes that.

i drove by the at&t store this morning. there were like 50 people in line. i had to get to work, so i bounced. gonna try again in a little bit. hopefully they aren't already sold out. but i hear everyone's having problems with activation... so i guess i'm in no hurry.
