the project A4 that ive been dumping money into PICS

so its along story from when i first saw the car till now. A kid in my frat trashed the car and ran over a curb and hit a car and then promptly just let the car sit for 2 years untouched. It didnt move and didnt run. engine wouldnt even turn over when trying to jump it. So i didnt pay too much for this car and wanted to tackle it... so here are the pics from the day i bought it to now, and i have a new fender coming, bumper, and H&R coilovers that are all shipped right now and should be on the car by next week.

as my sig says, its a 2000, A4 1.8TQ auto with perfect interior and just the body damaged shown

alright so this is a process of when i first saw the car until today. So a kid in the frat drove over a curb with this thing and parked in the lot 2 years ago untouched, didnt even turn it over.

when i first saw the car and wanted to take on a project


so my dad came and helped me dig out the car and trailer it home




just to find out it was litterly frozen in and would not move.

so he came back when all the ice was gone



sitting in the garage mahaul (as my old man calls it, he built it for 9 cars attached to our house and made it with 12 foot ceilings so that we could have lifts


started by taking off the front bumper and headlights




then came the timing belt, waterpump, thermostat, dv, and all the vacuum hoses


I was able to pick up some snow tires and rims and also put on new rubber door bumps, (not pictured)


Boost guage


took off the exhaust and dp to replace the flex joint and reweld on some broken hangers

thanks for looking guys... being a college student im kinda proud i was able to bring it back from the grave

ill keep you posted once the body panels are on and the suspension is on.

yeah the car runs and drive and gives a solid 8psi. i just dont drive it as the cops here are total dicks and would give me a ticket for no front bumper and plate...

so how did you get it to fire up? sitting for 2 years i imagine stuff inside the engine seized up?

I just took out the spark plugs and put some WD=40 in the cyl. replaced the plugs and then put a brand new battery in it with new gas. and it fired right up but wouldnt stay running. I had to put a new fuel filter in it and a new MAF and cleaned TB then it would stay running

thanks yeah im also one that has to pay for everything too, so i come to appreciate what i have. life isnt cheap man but you know that already

aight so here is the entire story, He is a 26 year old who is a dead beat and cant graduate college and one that doesnt care about anything. The car was a total mess with dirty plates and kegs and exploded beer in the trunk with mold that i had to then clean out. He was driving it and when he would come to a red light and let his foot off the gas the rpms would drop below 1500RPMS and then the car would stall on him. He took the car over a curb and ripped off the exhaust from the flex and the undershield and the bumper spoiler. Then he parked the car in the lot with intentions of fixing it and while in the parking lot for two years someone hit the car while backing out and dented the fender and ripping off the bumper and headlight. That was just more incentive for him not to touch the car. Then people started drawing on his windows and kinda vandalized the car. when i took off the wheels to replace the rotors and pads, he had worn the back brakes so bad that there were no pads and the backing plate was less than a centimeter thick. he was wearing away the backing plate and making ruts in the rotors. this just shows you how much of a loser this kid was.

I didnt want to share the whole story cause i figured no one would read it but people asked and here it is..

well i kinda am short on cash now because of this project but im just going to put on the new fender and bumper and then lower the 4x4 on the H&R coilovers and thats the plan for now.

Im thinking of the GIAC chip or APR chip in the next few months and also painting the lowers and bumpers along with the clear corners. Things that wont cost too much and i can do myself. I know GIAC or APR will cost about $500 but other than that i can do the rest myself.

The 710N is the DV right? haha im still learning this or is it a new N75? and how much would shipping be to 60062?

EDIT: forgot to mention too that my ABS module went out so that is currently being rebuilt by modulemaster

Yep, the 710n is the dv. I think it is the dv from the TT and S4. The n75 is the wastegate valve.

Shipping should not be too much. I would place it into one of those brown foamed USPS envelopes. I would assume no more than like $4 (price of envelope plus shipping). Just tell me when you want it.

hey thanks man, it been a fun but expensive project along with frustrations. i was actually going to go to purdue!! good school. I got this at University of Iowa where i attend.

So i just finished the project and put on the coilovers. im sitting at around 25inches ground to fender and 25.5 in the rear. i have it a bit high for the winter and also cause i got the H&R's used and one of the colars were frozen and i couldnt get it lose. haha so anyways i know the front washer caps arent on but i have them and they are about to be mounted.

I dont know if you already have one or need one.... but I got a 6 disc changer from my old B5 that works perfectly, sits in the trunk slot, if you need one. Ill let it go for cheap, just need to get a rid of it since its taking up space and im moving soon. When I was in college, I modded my old B5 on the cheap side too!! Check out my old B5 in my sig, there is a link.

Yeah, you should have the wires already in your car, check the trunk side panel where there is a slot for the audi tool box and ch changer, should be a 13 pin connector in there, its just plug-n-play

UPDATE!!!!!

so my motor did blow in it caused by sludge. here is the link to the diagnosis of it

and now i am currently having the motor rebuilt. I should have it back in a month and then ill be back on the road. The diagnosis was that my sludge completely covered the oil pick up screen on the oil pump and toasted the crank, cams, valves and everything else.

here are some more pics of the process all over again... I think ive dumped waaay too much money into this thing to be honest, but i do love the car.
