Well, you only have <20 wires to solder so in that regard it's not bad.

If you've never done it before cutting into your wiring harness is very intimidating.

I was going to do a writeup on it but never got around to it.

The hardest part is tracking down which wires are which. Make sure you check and double check EVERY wire with a DMM. And remember not to make the mistake i made, black with a green stripe is not the same as green with a black stripe .

PM me with your email addy and i'll send you a chart i have made.

I'd like the chart to...PM sent. Are you also hooking up the remote start?

    Re: Compustar

I'll e-mail everyone, who PM'ed me, the chart tomorrow it's on another PC.

I made it when I installed my P2w9000FM (canadian version with claimed 6000 ft range). http://www.compustar.com/products/P2W9000FMR.htm.

It includes remote start and has most trigger wires for a 2000 s4 sedan, some I could never locate and gave up on for a later date. I don't know if it will be different for other years or avants. All i know is that EVERY wiring diagram i saw was in one way or another wrong about stuff, and I had around 4 diagrams plus the factory audi stuff. which is why i stress testing every wire with a DMM. If you don't have one get one. If you don't know how to use one, LEARN.

It seems there is a lot of demand based on the number of PM's i got so perhaps I should get around to doing that writeup. Esp since I do have a few more tips for those who have never done something like this before.

It was my first alarm/starter install, and i figured out a few things as I went that others might find helpful.

    Re: Compustar

You dont need no diagram whatsoever to do this. You cant just trust the diagram you have to test everything to be 100% sure, they are not always accurate. Id do a diy, but its kinda long. Programming is a bitch too if you never did it. If you re not comfortable doing this dont do it.
