    air conditioner quit working

Well my ac is still moving ice cold freon but it no longer blows. the freon pipes i hear the hissing and can watch the ice form on them. When i put the heat on high hot air comes out but not blown just as its coming out because that's the path of least resistance.
is there just 1 blower that controls heat/ac or are they separate?
this summer is a bit warm/humid to be driving around without ac.

your refrigerant charge is low, evaporator hissing is a good indication of low charge, i understand the pipes are getting cold, but if you are getting ice on them it is too low causing the pressure on the low side to go way low causing freeze up which results in no worky of the ac.

so basically recharge then reevaluate. but even if it was low wouldn't that mean that some sort of air would be pushed or is it low refrigerant no worky.

I had an ac leak in my car. Wound up being a bad O ring. replaced, re charged, now I get this hissing noise from the passengers side dash/floorboard area when I have the heat on. WTF is it?! Is it related to the ac charge? Last winter is when I lost my refrigerant, I drove the car through the winter and the heat was fine. no Hissing. this summer I bought a bottle of the refigerant, used almost the entire thing (was a big bottle) and this winter I noticed that i have a hissing sound when the heat/defrost is running. Any ideas?
