    Stereo Upgrade

So i'm considering an Avic-F900 (once they get the bugs fixed).
everything i've read says to connect it slightly differnetly if your car has bose/non bose, but i dont know which my car has, and have not found out any way to tell.

So, does anybody know how i would figure out which one i have?

Also, i've also seen that some of the speakers may or may not be 2ohm instead of the standard 4ohm, how much of a problem would that pose?

    Thanks!

i was wondering about that since mine doesnt, and i know bmw always puts "harmon kardon" on theirs. likely then i do not have it.

that means i think that my front speakers are not amped, and are run by the headunit directly. how do people power the (possibly 2ohm speakers?) speakers, with the headunit, or put an amp in front. the f900 is only 14x4 so thats not a lot of power.

has anybody done it? how does it sound?

i want GPS + Bluetooth now that it's illegal to drive without handsfree. I put a parrot in my 87 325is and it's great. I have a portable GPS in my A4 but i really want to add bluetooth, and by the time i'm done there are gonna be a pile of gadgets, and the new pioneer does everything stock.

i'm with you, i normally drive with the windows rolled up, and am quite content with the little sub in the trunk. it hits plenty hard.

not to mention the top pixel line went out on my Symphony, so it's really just a reason for me to upgrade :-)

both bose and non-bose will use the metra adapter harness. only difference install wise is with bose you use the harnesses' rca connectors and with non-bose you use the speaker wire connectors.

i can't vouch for sound quality of running audi non-bose speakers with an aftermarket unit. with bose it is an improvement, as the aftermarket head units send a cleaner, stronger signal to the stock bose amp.
