    suspension setups

Im looking for a coilover setup for my B6 S4 and my question goes to you guys (since you make the big power). When i watch you guys launch your cars or even downshift the ass ends of your cars squat to the ground. I'm wondering how much do the spring rates come into play to minimize this? if it does what spring rates on what coilover setups do you guys have to prevent/minimize this squatting/rubbing problem. if like something pretty comfortable. looking at Vogtland, Vogtland GTs, H&Rs. thanks in advance!

it all depends on how long you stay in 3rd gear.... it might get too squirrely with coilovers.

seriously, though...if you're serious, though...there's no squat and rub unless wheel offsets are fucked up. the cars squat because, well, every car squats to an extent on acceleration (we'll talk torque, rotational inertia and gravity later).

we need to know what you use your car for: daily driving, mild track use, drag racing, etc. If you want a good all-around coilover the Vogtlands are good for street use, Vogtland GT for street use and a little higher spring rate and a bit of track use, and Motorsport Ohlins if you have the 3rd gear conversion on your transmission.

    Re: suspension setups

i use my car for an everday driver... prob will never track it.. may take it to the drag strip once in a while. my friend has a stage 3 B5 S4 and he used to scrape his exhaust on the ground during his launches with this stasis street sports... now has vogtland GTs and that cured the problem. My concern arrises because i dont want to end up like him.

What is the 3rd gear conversion? never heard of such a thing for the B6 S4

It looks like you answered your own question. . .Vogtland GT's with the higher spring rate in the rear FTW. They're not too harsh for everyday use. I have them and I love them. Startup Racing has them (before you ask ).

stasis streetsports are on the softer side of the coilover setups, but still shouldn't allow exhaust pipes to scrape.. you buddy might have been too low with a hanging exhaust or had a blown shock.

Vogtland GT's are good. I run standard Vogtlands and am happy (never track the car).

    Re: suspension setups

Im just spitballin here, but what would be a range of spring rate for each style of use?

    Just a guess:

    Street 400-500
    Track 500-700

Am i even close with these assumption??
