Picked my car up from ASP: Gt28rs :)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So i picked my car up from Autospeed Performance on Sunday. Autospeed does nothing but quality work and their shop is amazing. They build everything in house in their huge ass machine shop. Mark is a super nice guy and I def recommend this place.

I ended up with 241whp at 20psi very conservative.
(my car made 118whp stock on their dyno)

    The kit included:
    ASP Mani
    Gt28rs
    630cc Inj
    ASP Maf Housing
    ASP TIP
    ASP 200cell HFC
    Oil and Coolant Lines
    93 oct tune
    ASP FMIC
    ASP Power steering cooler

My car was the first drive by cable BT a4 they have done and i think they did an great job with it. While the car was there i also got their street density motor mounts and i love them also. The vibration is not bad at all and its super stiff now.

Ill post some dynos when he emails them to me.

Looks good and good numbers. Will we be seeing it going down the 1/4 mile at waterfest in a few weeks?

BTW did you mean their "street series" engine mounts?

Most likely not, I'm only running a stage 2 clutch (so i was told when i bought the car and i'm not even sure of the brand). So hard launching is out of the question for now.

I will be there with the car though.

The FMIC looks great behind the stock bumper, they really put it in there nicely. I want your setup

a stg 2 clutch should handle the power you are making.
My girls B5 a4 gtrs with a stock clutch handles pretty well. I mean it sleeps once in a blue moon, but it holds pretty good.

Well you dont have to launch the car hard to run it down the track, you just run it hard after the launch to get trap speeds.

My car was the first DBC they did and they were super busy so between tuning, installing, and fabing up some custom pcs to make the kit work on a b5 it was about 4 weeks. They have a ton of cars in the shop they are working on not to mention getting ready for waterfest.

Russel, what many of us in this thread are curious to know is how much YOU paid personally for this setup including parts and labor. You gave us a figure of how much this may theoretically cost in the future, but we're interested in how much you paid.

Russell! Awesome! Glad to hear of your positive experience. You must be stoked and have a quality system there.

I'm turning the key on my new motor later this week. Should be back at ASP for final tuning maybe in September depending on their schedule. I'll cross that bridge once I've broken in the new motor.

In regards to pricing... Introductionary price (and retail) is here: http://audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=205751

ASP now has a few B5s tuned and running this kit (Russell being one of them) so I'm not sure if they are offering the same pricing they gave Russell. If you are seriously interested I would contact ASP ([email protected] or 856.772.9500) and go from there.

That still isn't going to be the same for a normal customer as it was for him seeing that they most likely gave him a great discount with maybe even free labor for being the test car.

My spec clutch plate was TOAST when I dropped the tranny after the car was already totaled, though it was still holding plenty fine, the clutch took at least 150 4500 rpm launches.

your missing a lot here... That includes the FMIC and custom tune for your specific car. Their dyno is a low reading dyno also, look at how much the baseline was. Mark can do more with it, but he usually likes to keep things smooth and driveable, especially on a stock motor

for an FMIC, the turbo inlet, filter, dyno tune, oil lines, coolant lines, and the hardware kit it is pretty decent. Don't believe all dynos. They do not all read the same. It looks like a quality set up.

Well around how much money would in be for around 450whp?
Id'e imagine 250whp may be good for a 13 second pass, right?

Yes 250whp is good for low to mid 13's with a good driver, high 13's to low 14's with a avg driver.

Not going to get 450whp out of that size turbo.

450whp can cost anywhere from $10k or even more. There are guys that have spent more then that and aren't even making 450whp yet.

    Built long block = $5k+
GT3076 or GT35r turbo setup $2500 to $3k or even higher
ER comp or race series FMIC = $1250-$1500
    Injectors $350+
    tuning $900+
    Exhaust $600-$1200
    Fuel pump $100-$500
    Clutch and/or flywheel $700-$1200

That list alone is $11,400 - $13,650 and the small things will add up and also add labor if your having someone do the work.

Exactly, all the components used in this set-up are of the highest quality.

The FMIC comes with a new power steering cooler and full charge pipes from the turbo outlet all the way to the throttle body with silicon connectors and T-clamps throughout.

All the turbo coolant and oil lines are full braided stainless steel. Show me a full kit that provides SS lines.

    etc. etc.

For comparison purposes... the APR 3+ kits come with the same hardware MINUS a FMIC for roughly the same price. And that does not include a custom tailored file for your vehicle (which ASP does if you bring your car to them).

Well, I figured id update this. I had the car back at Autospeed for a new clutch and Mark worked on hot starts and the idle and both are spot on now.

Even with the big maf the idle is still super stable and everything is just so smooth.
I have driven it for about 10k miles and it is very reliable and drives awesome.

I dont think they have updated the site to include this kit but it def is available if your interested best thing to do would be call :1-856-772-9500 or check out www.autospeed.us

They have a really pretty kit. I know there are many users whom could really use their intake TIP and MAF set-up. They could make a pretty penny if they did decide to sell those separately. But I am sure it is not in thier best interest to not have thier kits sold as complete set-ups.

Any new number put down? 241whp on 20 psi seems rather low with 630cc injectors. Or maybe it's just me. I don't know how far you want to test your engine, but I know you can get at least 280whp on pump with upping the boost (and maybe some tweeking). That is numbers figuring a 20% drivetrail loss with the turbo rated at 350hp.
I hate it when my car acts like a little bitch, treating me like a bitch

You could definitely push the kit further. Im sure by just running a 3" exhaust and a test pipe you could gain some. To me its plenty for where I live and the powerband is great.

Plus I don't cringe every time i put my foot to the floor hoping nothing breaks. Its definitely a safe number that I'm sure could be increased.
But with a kit like this the market would be to people with stock motors who want to bolt it on and go...otherwise you wouldn't be using a 28rs.
