i finally found a Red USP avant 1.8T/6spd!!!

after emailing 50 dealers every 2 wks and checking 5 websites daily for 4 months i finally freakin found a Red USP avant 1.8T/6spd and i have a deposit down on it!!!!.. i was going to fly out to pick it up, but it is a bit far so i think i am just going to ship it..

its an 05 Red USP Avant 1.8T 6spd with 54k, bose, cold weather, gray bi-xenons, and i believe premium package as well - but i need to confirm..

the only down side is the USP wheels are missing - it has the 17" 5-spoke sport package wheels on it.. the silver lining is USP wheels are not my favorite and i am moving back to PA this fall so the 17" will be good winter setup..

i am thinking about 18" RS6 (B7 S-Line) or B7 RS4.. not sure yet.. RS6 = i dont want to copy Sable, RS4 = lots of them out there..

beside swapping the mods from my sedan which include
-- RNS-E
-- cooled glovebox
-- 3.0L 12.3" brakes

the near term mod list includes (in no particular order)
-- APR 1+
-- RS4 rear sway
-- RS4 pedals
-- tinted windows
-- podi boost gauge
-- 18" RS6 (B7 S-line) or 18" B7 RS4 rims

i would also like to do
-- exhaust
-- B6S4 brakes
but will probably work on the top list 1st

nice find. it took me about 4 months to find what i wanted.

solid mod list to start with.
get some tips put on if u dont get an exhaust for a while, it really sets off the usp rear.
id go with the rs4 wheels.

lucky son of a bitch...i've wanted that car since before i got mine. someday ill find one...of course it will have 130987832 miles on it. :(

on a side note: make it official, get USP wheels. i was on the fence about getting rs4 reps, etc. but in the end i decided the USP wheels look clean and official enough.

what is this, cooled glove box mod? never heard of that...

it is an OEM option in Europe that pipes AC into your glovebox.. it is pretty cheap and works very well.. it is not affected by the interior temp you select.. as long as the AC is on it blows cool air in your glove box even if you have it set on 80*..

we drove from LA to Denver and it was awesome.. it will not make warm beverages cold (unless you drive a very long way), but it will keep your cold beverages cold pretty much for ever.. i just installed it on my standard glove box and have had no problems..

thanks for the pic of a USP with B7 RS4s.. those and RS6 (B7 S-Line) are on my wheel list.. other suggestions welcome, but i am planning an OEM+ approach..

i am really bummed it doesnt have the USP wheels.. and i really want them to complete the package, but since i have to buy them i really like B7 RS4 or RS6 wheels better.. i'll probably stick with 18".. i am moving to Pittsburgh and the roads suck.. also Jim and Sable are running 18" on their Red USP Avants and they look great ..

good find. sucks that it doesn't have USP wheels, but that's a minor detail. you can easily pick up USP, RS6, or RS4 reps and keep the OEM+ style.

Its good to hear you held off for exactly what you wanted, its hard to do but I'm trying to do that for a DD right now.
I'd definitely go with black wheels though, nothings better than a red car with black wheels.

Congratulations on your find man, looks incredible! Not to many of those around here. BTW, I can sympathize with you on how long the searching took, 4 months and change here to find my A4 with the mileage I wanted <40000. Would have definately loved an Avant though... oh well I still have plenty of time, only my first car.

it is a ~$25 plastic tube that goes from your AC system to your glovebox.. it takes ~20mins to install and works great..

i found it on car.com listed the 1st day it was listed..
asking $17,495 obo.. i am getting it for $17,250..

the great price was enough to get over the missing USP wheels..

there were no pics and the interior said "gray", but it was a manual so i clicked on it.. the description said ultrasport.. the black or officially "ebony" interior does appear dark gray so that was reasonable mistake.. i called the guy immediately, asked a few questions and told him i would buy it as soon as i saw some pics.. unfortunately he was leaving for the 4th wknd, so i had to wait 3 days for pics.. once i saw them, put down a deposit and arranged for a forum friend to check it out for me.. it should be on its way next wk!!..

3 - JJPA4SE knows of another one in Pittsburgh (2004)
4 - TCHUN003's friend has one near Loma Linda, CA (2004)
5 - Downtown LA now in Yorba Linda, CA (2004)
6 - Eimports4Less Auto in PA now in Canada (2004)
7 - Chicago now mine (2005)

i also know of::
1- 1.8T / Auto in Pittsburgh
2- 1.8T / Auto sold at Commonwealth VW in So. Cali.

Yeah, you'd think so. I think it's 'cause Canadian car prices are so out of whack with US, dealers sometimes offer cheaper trim levels on some models. Or maybe they were custom ordered. But again, why would you go through the trouble of getting an Audi, then cheap out of the Quattro?

well, a forum friend checked it out for me and said it was pretty solid.. so the papers are signed, money is sent, and shipping is being finalized.. i should have it in a wk or 2..

i am already on the RS4 rear sway GB list and the RS4 pedals are ordered!!..

i really want to jump in on the APR sale, but it would be nice to drive it a bit stock just to make sure there are no issues.. i guess with the sale i could get stock mode for free, but i probably wouldnt use it.. plus i will just have to reflash it when i move to PA for the good gas.. CA=91 vs PA=93

i am still deciding on RS4 or RS6 or other wheels and whether to 18" or 19".. i will be moving back to PA soon and i think the roads are too rough for 19".. i am thinking RS4's, but not sure yet.. anyone with pics of RS4s on an USP??.. anyone interested in photoshopping for me??..

i also need to decide on tint.. my sedan is 20% rears, 35% front and i like it alot.. PA has stricter tint laws, so ??.. Jim has 35% all the way around on his Red USP and it looks good, but he said he wishes it was darker.. Sable what % is yours??..

well, i just ran the carfax and it says it was in rear end crash.. i knew this one was around but didnt realize he was going to sell it.. but from what i hear the guy did very good job repairing it.. the accident happened right after he bought it and it is a 1-owner vehicle.. i would definitely not be afraid of buying it, but that is probably why the price is a bit lower..

it has the right wheels, tinted windows, and no front plate (all things "wrong" with mine).. but just standard xenons vs bi-xenons that mine has..

i'm honestly not sure which one i would have bought if they were for sale at the exact same time (pretty close).. this one would have been easy and i know the history, but the other is an 05 and wasnt wrecked..
