    record time for torn DV?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I think mine's torn. 150 miles after the chip (I have 10k total miles on the car and don't really drive hard to begin with these days). Damn wasn't even trying, for real. I thought my 07 had the upgraded DV too?

That's why I got Forge at the same time I got chipped, did'nt want to take the chance. I think they got a sale going on too, might wanna hit them up.

Seems to be pretty hit or miss.... a friend of mine tore his DV after getting on it too hard when his car was cold. Taking it easy until it warms up is hard for some people to understand... especially if its their first turbo-charged car.

I "got on it" well after 20 minutes of driving on the freeway. oh yeah to add I just got chipped last Tuesday the 2nd and I heard the "whistle" last Friday.

WOT above 5k rpms. Other than that it actually seems fine in normal driving. Still good torque down low.

Re: record time for torn DV?

    I have APR93/100 stage 2.

I got it during the very beginning of last winter. Our winters can generate ambient temperatures below zero. I have put about 10,000 miles on since then.

OEM dv ftw still. Living proof it is a hit or miss I guess

Re: record time for torn DV?

Put a Forge and forget the issue once and for all...
And whats more, it will keep the pressure much better than the best OEM valve...

Re: record time for torn DV?

I didn't buy the Forge because it's ran off vacuum and has a latency period when opening to release pressure, causing a boost spike. There was a huge thread on Vortex about this (23 pages I think), I read all of it and concluded for myself that it was not a worthwhile investment when the OEM valve is under warranty.

    http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3336171

You can do this fix below, but again, i'd rather use the time taken to install this and the $225 a Forge valve costs, and chill at the dealership a few getting it replaced for free.

Hmm did a search (thanks for the heads up). I'll go ahead and get it vag'ed and see. Not too worried since I'll just get a new one under warranty if I need it. I haven't really pushed it since but I still certainly feel good torque in everyday driving.
