So it's 103 deg outside in lovely Bay Area, Cali. What great timing...my a/c is blowin air...just air...not even cool air. I had to drive with the windows down even that didn't help b/c the outside air is hella hot!! My car is pushing 80k miles...is it time for a freon a/c re-charge or what should I look into first?? 103 deg? Sounds like my neck of the woods. Check your refrigerant levels, if it is okay, then I think the AC compressor will be the next suspect. If it is low, check for leaks. You may also want to note that when the ambient temperature is 103 degrees the AC may not be sufficient to provide the necessary cooling, period. If you have access to a temperature probe ($19.99 at Autozone) take a reading of the air coming through the vents and compare it with the ambient temperature from the car's temperature gauge. If the difference or "delta" is null then there is definitely a problem with the car's HVAC. If the split is 10 deg then it may be fine, it is just plain hot. 103 deg with a 10 deg delta is still 93 deg F, which is hot! However, a 10 degree delta
may be normal, I don't know what the normal temp split is for our cars.
