i've never had a problem with it... lag is something you create when you're too lazy to shift. as greg once said "you just have to know your car and be able to row gears like a slave on a viking ship" (or something to that effect)
also, i've got plenty of torque in that same range.. a chipped k03 is MAXING in that range.. a BT a4 (especially a smaller eliminator like a GTRS) will be into 15-18psi by then, and that's more power than a k03 spiking 23psi would make in the same RPM range. having that open top end is totally worth any "lag" that you might experience..
personally i don't think anything outside of small displacement cars running a 4088 or larger can really be called lag. a 35r would have some decent lag on it too... but again.. your top end would kill it so hard that you'd never really have to worry about it.
and to the comments about "driveability" -- you have to remember that NOT having a sudden and totally un-stoppable onset of boost in lower RPM's actually makes your car easier to drive "normally" if you're trying to save gas or just get around town. then you can downshift and really open it up. it makes it much easier for me to control how i want the car to drive IMO.
