    Tires for 2001 S4: 225 vs 235

    Hey all,
Sorry for the rookie question. I used to have an active account on this forum back in the day when I had my brand new 2001 A4, but I have no idea what it was or the email assciated with it. I have since picked up a 2001 S4 and am glad to be back in the Audi game.

I have a quick question for my stock height 2001 S4. I am considering putting 18" RS4 or B6 S4 Stock 18" wheels on it. Alternatively, I am also considering new tires for the stock 17" wheels. Will I have any clearance issues or rubbing with the following tire sizes or wheels? Any other issues that I may have with the wheel swap?

    Thanks in advance:

    RS4 Wheels, 235/40/18 tires
    S4 B6 Avus Wheels, 235/40/18 tires
    235 45 ZR 17 for my stock S4 B5 Avus Wheels, which currently have 225 45 17 tires

    Cheers

with 18s, you should lower it first. As for as rubbing/clearence issues, you will have none. I ran 225/50/16 on my stock rims, no issues. I ran 235/40/18 on my current rims for the past year, no issues. I am current running 225/40/18 and still no issues :]

If you need wheel spacers and if your car is too low the it'll rub like minds. So try to get rims where you dont need wheel spacers. But you shouldn't [have any problems with the wheels you listed.

I think the magic backspacing on these cars is 35mm on 8" wide rims, anything over that number you'll need spacers. My wheels are 38mm and I'm using 3mm up front to get the tires away from the tie-rod ends, but my car low.

Naw, I think I will be ok. you gotta remember that the S4 comes 2" lower than a standard A4. Pics of 18's:
