Rear windows + Auto UP?

If both mods truly work, I guess the heavy red wire #7 and the lighter gauge one #8 both have 12V on them. I wonder if the little one is switched 12V.

That would be my guess... if I get the time this week i'm going to do this and i'll report back with my findings.

Hell, I read this thread at 8:29 and reminded me I wanted to do this about 2 years ago... At 8:31 I went outside... I tried both 5-7 and 5-8... Both work just fine... It is now 8:59 and that is after taking a dump and getting a beer... So, if that answers your question... Plus it is UBER easy!

No, windows do not work with the key off... As I said, both 7 and 8 worked... I chose 7 because of the larger wire... I don't like to overwork the little guys... What was #2? What I found ususual, is that the write-ups all had blanks in #5... I actually had a wire there...

That's interesting about the wire in position 5. I'm going to guess that the #8 position is always on 12VDC since some report their rears work with the key off after the mod. I will do this sooner than planned after your inspiration.

With people reporting their windows working with the key off... There is something like a 2-5 mintue timer that will allow you to roll your windows up/down after the car has been turned off, as long as no doors are opened... That might be it! I don't see why there would be a constant 12V on a window...

^^^ Since the remote window mod uses the same circuit as the key in door method, it should not matter.

finally get a "mechanical" mod that I can finish by myself. Haha. However, it's very scary that the windows even cannot go "one touch down" after I connected everything and put everything back in. But both the "one touch up" and "one touch down" start to work after I tried several times.

They had to learn the one touch feature after you disconnected them... Perfectly normal...

I puttered around with mine the other night... found that both 7 and 8 have constant power all the time. However, #1 is switched... has power whenever the windows work...

I'll hopefully get to it this weekend and get it all done.

Ok, all done... used some wires from a broken headlight connector... its the correct terminal and has the silicone seal as well, so all looks OEM. I ended up tapping into the #1 wire, which as I mentioned before, has power only when the windows will work. All works great!

My B7 has auto-up all around from the factory.
