    Wheels for the R8

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey Guys

I am thing about getting these wheels for the R8. Please do not think that I want the car to look like a Lambo.. I just like the wheels. I am thinking either the silver, flat black or the titanium. I would like to get the Hercules Rims for the Lambo, but I think that they are the wrong offset. Please let me know what you guys think. Sorry could not find a pic of the Hercules Rims.

Could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Gallardo and R8 wheels are interchangeable, so you shouldn't have a problem. Maybe someone else can chime in...

What about fitting the Gallardo wheels over the R8's extra large brake calipers? Is it the same fitting as well? This is good news if they do fit!

They both have the same front calipers and the R8 rears have more clearance than the Gallardo rear calipers.

WEEDER - Keep in mind those Callisto's are quite heavy - 28lbs for the front and 34lbs for the rear. The hercules aka Murci Roadster wheel won't fit - too wide, wrong offsets and most important, wrong bolt pattern.

get 20" dpe ls5 in brushed face and possible polished barrel, or even maybe a black barrel. i think the rims would suite the R8 so well. here is an example of how nice they look

20" on an R8? What next, a bouncing suspension? The R8 is not a hip hop bling bling car. 20" are completely bling bling.

I think an R8 on airbags slammed would be pretty hot.

    Re: Wheels for the R8

The stock 19 inch wheels are too small for the R8. They are perfect for the track but in my opinion leave the car looking a little too feminine. Besides 20's are the new 19. 22's are bling.

Hey Liam, it looks like you have the Wayne Newton and hip hop stuff completely covered. Reminds me of seeing this photo on what a Russian did to his Porsche. He really likes 20" wheels too! BTW, I bet you look quite dashing when dressed up in an Elvis outfit.

I'll stick with form following function when it comes to sports/GT cars.

Hmmm...Gauche Nouveau riche 996 Turbo emblazened in gold leaf compared to several R8's with nice lightweight street wheels.

Yup, you still have some comprehention issues.

Really guys, I'll really try to get you on a track sometime. I know that your cool gold chains, impressive big rings and spectacular 20" rims will be quite a hit with everyone. However, I don't think they will allow you to wear all of your gorgeous jewelry while driving on the track. But hey,... they will be very excited to welcome your big bad 20" rims! ( And everyone is hoping they still have those cute little blinking lights on them.)

    Liam, btw,.. its spelled "comprehension".

You can get these in flat black. That might not be bad?

I'll gladly gome to your next track day Bodhii as long as I'm your instructor. I'll keep the 20's and even switch the Pilot Sport Cups out for some crappy Pirelli PZero's. We'll also throw in 60lbs of lead in the front to erase any weight advantage my lighter 20's have. Maybe I should have my buddy bring his 599 GTB that comes standard with 20" wheels so you can laugh at him too. If you're such a hard core track junkie, you definitely need to remove those 19" wheels and throw some proper 18's on there ASAP.

    Re: Wheels for the R8

Hey Liam, you are right about the 18" wheels being a more versatile size for track use. But thankfully, Toyo makes their R888's in the perfect 19" size for the R8. So life is very good. Also Forgeline can't make their competition 18" wheels to fit the R8. Only in 19".:(

Hope everyone understands that all of these words in the above dialogues are just impromptu attempts at some fun and humor. The 20" wheels shown above are all beautifully designed, but to me, their exaggerated size seems to make them look aesthetically unbalanced.

And obviously Liam knows his stuff... And he does look dashing in his Elvis outfit. :D

ps.. Liam, I would be very seriously surprised if, indeed, you would 'qualify' to be my driving instructor... But then life is always full of the macabre and the unusual!(joke) Cheers

Impromptu attempts at humor are fine, but you have a history of posting arrogant, condescending and now borderline racist responses to nearly everyone's posts. I've tried to be helpful in your questions, however everytime I give you a correct and informative response, you simply ignore and insult.

I would be more than qualified to be your instructor Bodhii. These are just some of the groups I instruct for:

    Audi Club North America
    BMW CCA
    Chin Motorsports
    Ferrari Club North America
    NASA
    Porsche Owners Club
    Porsche Club North America

    And previously:
    Audi Driving Experience - Panoz
    Richard Petty Driving Experience
    Mercedes AMG Experience - Petty

    Re: Wheels for the R8

    Too funny. Liam.

I think you again make a mistake by thinking that cultural identities are purely racial in nature. That thought never crossed my mind. I see the hip hop bling bling all over eastern Europe where I work most often. To me, its appearance there looks as ridiculous as it looks here in the USA,.. or in Singapore, or Nairobi, or Santiago. Calling it "racist," is like calling someone a racist if they don't like a certain jazz song.

If you do indeed work with all of those car organizations, then you and I have met several times at different tracks, I'm sure. I'm a long time Porsche person, and I have no enemies on any track ever. You seem to be a little soft skinned right now. You brought up the idea that I somehow represent this "Newton" guy, so I just followed your lead. Sorry you feel so dissed. Its just forum chatter where there are no sacred cows. Me included. :)
