    Need a bit of help..

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've had my '08 A4 for about 3 months now and still a bit confused of what to do to it, in means of mods and all.

I've been searching around these forums for a while to get ideas, but I don't understand a few things still.

My car is fully stock and just like how all '08's come, it has the S-line body and nothing else really. It's on '17 stocks and has no sport suspension from audi.

The thing I need help with is that the car is too high and I would like to drop it pretty low where it wouldn't rub.

Now all I want to know about this is, do we need coilovers or something else? I want to drop it over an inch.

Also i've heard of spacers. What do those do exactly?

My last question is that what are some nice FWD (Tip) exhausts for this car? I've looked around and the only real FWD Tip ones are StaSiS.

I really would appreciate some feedback, thank you!

Spacers just push your wheels out to the wheel well giving it a wider stance vs. coilovers lower it. You could do springs and shocks to lower it also. Depends on what you're looking for.

I also have FWD w/ tip and the only full cat-back exhaust i found was from magnaflow. stasis has one on their website for the FWD but that's for quattro. The only full exhaust system is what i have, or you could do a custom system.

Re: Need a bit of help..

I have the Eibach Pro Kit springs on mine that I bought directly from the Audi dealership (Germany) when I lived there. I didn't change any of the shocks or anything like that. I can't remember the specs of the drop but you can google it if you're really interested. If I had more money I would have preferred to have done coilovers that way I could change my ride height because I would have preferred to slam it more. But still I'm happy with its look now. Haven't done an exhaust, no help there, plus I'm a 6spd manual. As for spacers, I HAD to get spacers for the rims that I bought. At first I bought 20mm spacers which brought the wheels out past the fenders for a real Euro look. Every German that saw the car with that stance loved it...absolutely loved it, very European, but I couldn't really ride with passengers because the tires would rub and I tried a couple of different solutions before I changed them. For a while this was the "family car". Now I have 10mm spacers and they're perfectly flush with the car (the wheels). I don't take them off even with my stock rims. Matter of fact, I might get some 20mm spacers again now that we have a better "family car....er...truck"

    - Lowered at 25" from the ground on H&R coilovers (about a 2" drop on a non-sport suspension).

    - 12mm rear spacers and 8mm front spacers on 17" stock wheels.

    How's this for starters?

APR 91/93/100, Forge DV, Debadged, PIAA, Blacked out filler/grille/reflectors/fog covers,
2.5" custom catback, Remus axleback exhaust, H&R Coilovers, Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta 235/35/19 tires, 19/8.5" BBS LM reps, RS4 centercaps, EVOM intake, 35/5% tint, Lamin-X

Lowering: the best price for the money will be Stasis Street Sport CO's. They come pre-set and you will most likely be happy with that appearance. For a little less money (only ~$200-250 less) you can go spring/shock combo. Again for the price Bilstein sport shock and Eibach pro-kit or H&R sport springs. CO's do require some maintenance, spring shock combo slap it on and forget about it. Install will be the same labor wise no matter CO's or spring/shock since all the same sh*t has to come out and be installed back in.

Spacers question has been answered. Most do it for looks, othesr need to because of big brake kits or because of the aftermarket wheel they bought. Rear spacers on stock offset (43) is almost a must because the rear wheel is set in much more than the front.

Finally, have you used the "advanced search" feature and/or read the forum sticky a the top of the forum....loads of info.

The person above was saying he had to change his spacers because of passengers.

I usually drive people around, are your settings for the stock rims and wheels good enough for driving people around?

12-15mm in the rears will be fine for stockers.

Re: Need a bit of help..

I run 19s and 25" was too low for me. I went with FK coilovers because my local Audi tuner recommended them. It pays to get coilovers if you are picky. I've had mine adjusted twice, and will adjust one more time. Without coliovers, you are stuck at the drop the shock/spring set give you.

You won't always need spacers if your wheels are wide enough and have a particular offset. My fronts are damn near side flush without spacers. I will add a small 5mm-8mm in the rear just to make them even.

Then the wheels of course. It depends if you want to stay with 17s, or move up to 18s or 19s. The 19s are 1/2" taller then 17"s so you can't say I want to be 25" high because that would not be the same on a 19" wheel as it would on 17s or 18s. So decide on the wheels you want, that will help decide on coilovers or not, and that will get you closer to your first mod. Then once you have all the settled you can see if you need/want spacers.

Then the next mod is getting chipped. I can't wait.
