    A4 Interior vs. Florida Downpour

I was on my way to go out to dinner with the misses when i roll my window down to talk to someone down the street and try to roll it back up and hear a loud crunch. The window goes up about 1/2" and thats about it. Tried a couple more times to no avail. Figured it was supposed to rain in a few hours so i should try to get the car home in the garage before the daily downpour starts...
Get on the onramp only to feel the car go into "limp mode". The RPM's jump and i get flashing CEL. I pull it over and turn it off and back on, the RPM's are jumping between 700-500 RPM's so i shut it off and call AOA because im about 30 miles from my house and anyone with an audi who could assist (BFE).

It wouldn't have been so bad, but while waiting for the towtruck driver i see the sky start to darken behind me...not good. The tow truck guy get there and loads it up as quick as possible, but its starting to sprinkle already. We get off at the next exit and get a trash bag from a gas station to put over the door, only to have it blow off 3 miles down the highways again. By this point we are getting right into the storm, it looks like theres a clearing between the fronts, so he guns it to about 95 (with no weight on the front tires ). Just as we seem to be out of it it crosses over the highway and the A4 gets the brunt of it.

Luckliy it wasnt raining sideways (like it usually does down here) so the interior wasnt too bad, so i just toweled it off. When i got to the dealer there was an Audi rep waiting after hours to get my car into a bay (this was thursday night, so it would have sat outside until tomorrow).

All in all i was pleased with AOA and the dealer here, and im hoping everything is covered under warranty.
BTW my mileage is 49,500. LOL

then again im CPO anyways, so it dont matter much. :p

Sucks to hear! Your regulator went out real soon with only 50K miles on it. I had all three go out at around 95K miles.

Next time around, if you can atleast get a grip on the window (in your case you said it came up 1/2 way) try and pull it up into place. I was able to do that to all my windows, when they just fell down!

Sounds like a window regulator and at least one coilpack.

My regulator just went out as well, split in half actually, luckily I pulled the window up right before an infamous tampa rain. Crown audi took 3 days to fix it (let's not talk about the damn 300c I got as a rental, what piece...)

sounds like a broken regulator, you could have probably pushed the window up.

Re: A4 Interior vs. Florida Downpour

i tried pushing it up but it would only come up about 1/2" from the bottom so i couldnt get a good enough grip on it, and when i tried it wouldnt budge. :/

    Definitely a window regulator.

I just replaced mine, I'm at 65k and I hardly used my windows.

I did a pretty good DIY write up on here about 2 days ago. It cost me about $100 shipped for the parts and should take an hour or less to do the work if you want to attempt it yourself. It was surprisingly easy.
