Isnt there a better setup for the GT2871R on 99 1.8T than this??

I have the same setup as in this link....

And I hate it. It makes zero sense to suck in all that hot air and I'm looking for some pics or diagrams of others that have routed it to the area of the old air box. Being that this turbo setup has very limited room, I'd like to see if anyone else has tackled this successfully.

Ive seen other setups where they have some sort of other TIP that allows them to have room for a heatshield inbetween. I doubt every 71R intake system looks like that BTW,.

Well I know others have gone in other directions but when I bought mine, the guy had it set up this way (which I still have it) so now that I've gotten to it, I want to change it up. I just havent seen many applications visually. If you could find some pics or more info, I'd greatly appreciate it.

You could try one of these which is 3" on both ends, you can get it from ATP.

Looks like it'd work but it just seems too restrictive. I guess I only have so many options though..

It isn't restrictive because the tube gets wider in the center section which keeps the volume the same as the inlet/outlets. I ran the same type of design in a 4" for my GT35r and was able to make 400+whp running 20psi.

BTW on any 90 deg bend hose nearly all of the air is flowing at the outer edge, so a normal 90 would be more restrictive then the cobra which has more surface area on that outer edge.
