what is best air filter

I have thee AFE Dry-flo, oil-less filter-

Air the K&N filter out for a few days (take it out of the bag) and then install - no MAF problems. About the same as an OE, but you don't have to change/reoil as often.

I have the AFE Pro-Dry S drop-in and so far no issues. Cost me about $44 so it isn't very expesive over stock. Don't notice any difference driving..but it does make a air sucking sound (where w/ stock there was none), so it may be doing something.

i wa looking into this stuff too... i think i will go with the itg... i was at awe and he said thats all they will use... they are better flowing but you wont really notice much on your day to day driving.... also notice that they are a foam filter so they filter very well too

Had it for about 15k miles/1.5 years. Like I stated I didn't really notice much of a difference besides the louder intake sound. Maybe slightly better throttle response (could be in my head though).

They sell cleaner for it (I didn't purchase any), but it states that just shaking it out restores it to 90% brand new efficiency.

For only $45...it's like the cheapest thing/mod I've bought for my audi

I got mine direct from AFE...althogh it seems that they are a bit more expensive then when I ordered mine. Their site has them for $57 now.
I think I got mine when they were just releasing them (I had to wait like over a month as it was made for my order and it was like $38 ($44 w/ shipping)).

Im using a stock replacement from the parts store. Cost me $11.95, works great. No need to waste money on an aftermarket filter.

Well it is only hard for people that cant read the directions on the box or bottle. You oil it and let it dry, then oil it some more if there are any white or dry areas. You dont just spray the whole bottle on the filter all at one time.

I have seen people spray so much oil on the filter that it looks like it was dunked into a bucket of oil, those people should never work on their cars.

I had the ITG filter...

It filled the bottom of my airbox with its oil!

I had to remove the airbox and remove the excess oil at the bottom, which had turned to geletin-like substance...Yuk!

I still have the ITG, its sitting over on the shelf in my garage....

with a gauze filter material the oil is suppose to aid in catching dirt and particulates when they go thru the filter.

Trap any dirty incoming air.

And yes, regular paper airfilter works great
