For those of you who know what it means to run the 1/4 at 4000ft elevation...

I just ran a 12.2 @ 115.9 tonight. Twice. I'm running greasy Kumho tires and couldn't do any better than a 1.7 60ft. Ah well...

Nice. Couldn't even see that vette till the end. You ruined him from a launch.

Nice run sir. You should bring her down to sea level sometime and race downhill with the rest of us.

Yeah his tail lights weren't on for some reason... I still had about 3-4 car lengths on him by the end of the 1/4. You can tell because my time pops up on the boards just 0.1 seconds before his does...

LOL, thanks. It's a pretty good rule of thumb that whatever you run in Calgary, you can knock about a second off that time if you were at sea level (and on a track where they actually prepped the surface). I'm full weight too (minus the spare)!

Very impressive! That's about an 11.4 at sea level! Full weight or did you have the back seats out, etc?

Full weight minus the spare, I was there, it was rather impressive. Whole crowd in the pits cheering when he roasted the vette off the line

Full weight. No carbon fiber, stock brake calipers, full interior. The ONLY thing I did to lighten the car up from stock is remove the spare tire, as nothing77 mentioned above.

BTW, I just read a report that because of the low pressure front last night, the ambient air pressure was equivalent to 5000feet above sea level instead of 4000...

Nice times, and yes, I do know what elevation does to our cars -- I'm at 6000 ft

Again, very impressive times, but the shaving off a second due to elevation is for naturally aspirated cars, not turbo'd cars like ours. It's more like a 1/2 second if you were to use the NHRA correction factors.

Calgary is well known to have the WORST track in NA. It is never prepped or taken care of and will in fact be torn down in the next year. That's why I said that on a GOOD TRACK at sea level you can shave about 1 second off the time you run in Calgary...

The guy in the vette is a super nice guy, not a giant ego, I dont think he mind getting beat by the S, just makes him try a little harder to get the Z06 to hook up the next time

Awesome Jordan. I have a supercharged vette in Cranny that isn't a Z06 that doesn't believe that my stg2+ can at least give him a run and that my Vast Stg3 when its does will take him.

Ok - I guess the title and original post sounded like the elevation was more of the emphasis than the condition of the track. I guess if you could pull off a 1.2 60', then shaving off a second off your 1/4 time is definitely possible
