I need a list of tools, write-ups, and etc.

Ok guys. I need to make this something I can print out if possible. I'm doin the TB on my Aunt's A4 (05' 1.8tqTIP, Amulet Red, loaded out, 60k miles) and I want things to go as smoothly as possible.

Can you help me list ALL the tools i'll need to do a timing belt? Not necessarily stuff like 10mm socket, but more along the lines of special stuff. Torx bits, special alignment stuff, etc.

I'm more than certain I could search and find the write-up, but if someone could just post up a link, I would appreciate it alot.

    Thanks guys.

    Wish me luck.....

Just a side note that wasn't in the write up is that you should crank the engine over to find the spot where it isn't on the cam and wants to move as soon as you remove the belt. Also a tip from Old Guy is to mark the belt on the car with marks on the crank wheel and cam wheel then lay new belt on old belt and make same marks... can't go wrong with this tip... GL

this is pretty easy if you make sure you do a few checks first

O and make sure your in neutral with the plugs out when you turn the engine over

71k miles on an '04 a little over a year ago... no mods as the pistons hi-fived the heads so I got new heads at the stealership and that was my two-year mod budget.

Might as well go with a stg 1 reflash, DV, and TIP (unless you're there already)... hard to go wrong there. And if you're ambitious, flush and upgrade all of the car's fluids (tranny, engine oil, diffs, brakes, coolant). That should hold you off until you've taken care of the suspension and brakes, then are ready for the BT or BAT plunge.

It'll be real easy to do snub mount, DV, TIP, Throttle body hose, and FMIC while you have the front end off. I did snub and changed my DV spring for GIAC FX. The stuff mentioned above is a good idea also but not necessary if you have been doing your normal fluid changes.

Since this is for my aunt, I'll prolly just be doing the maintenance items. If it were my car....well....to hell with my car. 110K miles....original belt AND I drive it like a pissed off teenager.

original belt @ 110k miles, umm maybe you should be replacing your belt at the same time, your driving on borrowed time bud.
