I almost got in an accident when I saw this yesterday.
It was a shell station somewhere in between San Mateo/Belmont on El Camino Real. I am not that familiar with the area, so I don't have exact address.
It was slightly north of a restaurant called 'vans' and the wheel works if that helps. Someone should egg/paintball this sign. That's robbery.


Of course, some folks were actually filling up there.

yeah, it's on 20th avenue and el camino in San Mateo. always the highest and most obsurd prices.

unfortunately yes. Feeding the machine. The kicker was that there are chevrons and vallero and 76 all within a mile or two. There is even another shell right down the street (I'm sure locals to that area can attest). El Camino Real has a gas station on every other block for about 20 miles at regular prices which are bad enough. I am still dumbfounded as to how this station still exists.

damn! even in marin the prices are cheaper at a shell, round 4.79 for the 89. y is it that shell always jack up their prices? v-power?

I can promise you that the most expensive gas is between the Peninsula and SF off of 101. No matter what car your driving I heard that Chevron 91 is the best bagn for your buck wether your car needs 91 only of not. I dont know if theres any truth to this but im gonna try it in my Yukon that we usually put 87 in.

One of my friends knows the guy who owns that gas station and he was told that the owner is trying to protest the gas prices by making his prices sooo much higher than everywhere else that no one will try and fill up at that station.

I recall their prices being average before they remodeled/reconstrucitoned.

Or maybe a lot smarter than we think he is. I know that station as my sis lives in that street corner. For as long as I known it, they always had theri prices 0.75 to a buck higher than everyone else even when our gas was under $3. I bet he doesn't really need the income from it. Sometimes I see a poor uninformed soul getting gas though. It's nice to know if he is doing it for protest. I think this business is either a distraction or some major writeoff that he needs for his other income sources. He probably owns this lot and doesn't have any dues other than a license to sell the gas, and pay one or two attendants min wage.

That place has always been expensive. Not sure why anyone would fill up there when a block down the road is the cheapest gas in the area.

i've never seen any cars getting gas at that station. they probably don't have any, which explains the outrageous prices to make sure nobody comes lookin.

i remember one of my instructors told me that chevron is a good all around gas for 87 89 and 91 were as shell and 76 are only good on premuim

oh instead of going to costco now i buy from a shell gas station here in san jose on hostetter 4.60 for premuim! woot alsmost the same as costco but better quality.

anyone get gas there? i saw a dolphin gray b6 s4 a few days back.

holy crap, time to switch gas to shell for a while. i usually gas up at the 76 on mckee & capitol... $4.76/gal right now... still high.

FTW: $4.59 premium at Rotten Robbie on piedmont and sierra in SJ. ..

Just got back from Hawaii, and the gas over there is only $4.30-ish for 87, and $4.50-ish for 91.

Costco is actually good quality gas. Depending on which vendor bids lowest, thats who they run with. They use the big names like Chevron, 76, Shell, etc... Any of the managers can tell you what vendor they are using for that week.

Chevron was also on the same boat since 91/92 only had Techron. Your right though, now all the grades have Techron FTW. I have made it a point to opnly fill up w/ 91 at Chevron when I can. If I cant find a Chevron im at Shell.

I paid 76.XX for 16 gallons of 91 in SF today. Chevron on 7th and Harrison. WTF... thats normal nowadays!!!
