Hey guys, maybe you can help me out. Well im lookin to upgrade over my crappy 96 camry. I'm thinking by january i should have enough to throw a nice down payment and also buy myself a nice bday gift ( Jan 24 ). I was lookin at a B7 A4. I would like a B8 but the price is too steep for me so I decided a B7 would suit my wallet better. Anywho, do you think there will be a small price drop on B7's once the B8's roll out? and also I love the B8 headlights ( love at first sight when i saw the LED's at the bottom ) do you think there will be ( or already is ) a conversion for those headlights on a B7? Thanks in advance!!!

Yes there will be a price drop because that is simple economics. As for the headlamps, there is a chance but a very minimal chance that a company would create these. The B8 headlamps are much bigger length wise and it would be hard to replicate that and probably not worth the work. I don't think your decision should rest on the headlights especially when coming from a '96 Camry.

Don't forget the 0.9% financing deal on A4's as well as a 2.9% financing deal on 08 A4 SE models that's going on at the moment.

ha that was a nice little cheap shot. Although my decision doesnt rest on the headlights its something that attracts me. I like the cars sophistication in general. Why people on the boards always trying to sneak in a smart remark? Sorry im not a trustfund baby and couldnt afford a new audi 2 years ago

Are you thinking new or used? It's going to be very hard to get a new B7..even now. My buddy was at the Audi dealer the other day and they had a very, very limited selection of cars.

    Re: Total Newb!!

remember that the price drop in b7s will probably already be mostly accounted for before the b8s actually arrive on the dealer lots for sale because people have known they are coming for a while now and have adjusted their purchase plans accordingly as far as getting a deal on a b7 before the b8 takes over.

That was not a cheapshot at all and if you have been on here before (which I don't think you have because you just joined) then you would know I don't post negative comments and I am trying to help you out by addressing your questions.
I guess I didn't get the part about the headlights but anyways, you don't have the right to make those comments when you know nothing about me. Trust fund baby? Well you are highly mistaken, I have paid for everything: the car, the gas, the mods, the insurance all while working fulltime going to a highly respectable private university (which I also have to pay for) and being only 20 years old. So looks like I'm not a spoiled rich kid like you assumed.

Some people will just hate... Say all you want about the camry but i will say from my experience its a very reliable car. May not be the best but it did wat it had to do when i needed it. Now im trying to buy something nice for myself and someone has to throw a cheapshot. Thanks to those who wrote a productive post and helped with my questions on this thread and not make fun of the cars people have owned in their history.

    Re: Total Newb!!

your better off getting the B7 now. and not waiting till Jan. Your going to buy a Preowned anyway. there are many in the tristate and If you want to PM me you can. when I buy a car I shop the entire tri-state. There is nothing good down by you as far as dealerships. take advantage of 2.9% now if you going to by new and if not then just by a preowned anyway. B7 are going to get cheaper through out the years anyway just like anything else. trust me go to a dealer and start shopping around. with the way the enconomy is now dealers would love any sale. by the way I suggest you look for an S-line that way the car looks great from the factory already. I would say for a good fairly loaded A4 06-07 your going to be looking at 24-27k depending on the miles. Thats around a $3** monthly payment which is not bad at all. If you cant knock that then you should be looking for another Camry

um, wow, i think you need to chill out a little. nsmith's been around the block and from what i can gather, his post was "productive" - it addressed your questions. you're not really in a position, as a "total newb", to demand the upmost respect and be dishing out labels like "trustfund baby"

you even called your camry "crappy" - why jump all over someone's nuts for basically suggesting that making such a big jump shouldn't be based on a headlight feature? it's like me looking at a ferrari and basing my purchase decision on what material the door handles are made out of - who gives a fuck? i'm going from an audi to a ferrari...

and yes, unless the b8 is found to spontaneously combust, the b7 *will* drop in market value (new more so than used).. the closer you get to the fall, when the dealers will be looking to clear out their lots to make room for the 09's, the better deal you'll get. i came from a toyota myself.. trust me, you'll never look back.. good luck

Thanks muffinman, well said. To add one more, thing I agree that getting it sooner than later is probably the best idea because the price won't change very much from now until all the way when B8 A4's become readily available at dealerships in early '09. Start looking and test driving to see what you want
