    Stasis Chip Tuning

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys I just made the switch from B6 to B7 and the car is amazing and the motor is just unbelieveable. What im curious about is Stasis Chip Tuning. I cant seem to find too much information about this chip. My local dealership is one of 6 that do chip tuning on site and will not affect the warranty in any way. If the chip causes and damage they will still up hold the warranty. SO im curious if any has this chip and what type of numbers it outs down?

    Re: Stasis Chip Tuning

I don't have any numbers but the reason people don't use them as much is because of the price, you have to pay at least double what the other companies are charging. IMO its better to go with APR, REVO, GIAC etc.

    Re: Stasis Chip Tuning

You have to pay double and you get less power. That's the trade for STaSIS taking over your 4 year/50,000 mile engine warranty. It's about $1500 for the STaSIS chip, vs. ~$800 for a APR/Revo/GIAC chip with some programs.

If you're dealer is 1 of 6 stasis dealers then yes you will be completely covered. For that price I say do it, you'll be completely covered if anything goes wrong. I have one installed in my car and love it. Can't go wrong with that price, some people have been quoted $1500 like AudiWxGuy said.

Yeah...I don't get it. Maybe the lowered prices on it? I'll have to find out. If it's only $695, that's a route I may go.

    Re: Stasis Chip Tuning

stasis is an excellent company, just try to find legitimate numbers and compare them to REVO, GIAC, APR, etc. any time you're at the dealer expect prices to be inflated quite a bit...both parts and labor rates. if you want to keep the warranty you're going to pay a higher price as well. you can also get a device to change the software modes on your car. ie stock mode for a trip to the dealer. your warranty should be fine because the software produced by the companies listed above is highly reputable, reliable, and thoroughly tested.

find a reputable local tuning shop from people here on AZ and pay them a visit. they will answer questions and remove any doubt from your mind!

695 would be worth it but i haven't heard that many issues on here with chips, statistically speaking anyway, so if the dealer says 1500 i'd tell them to chip their a#s

Yes you should, I have an appointment for tomorrow the 7th to get it chipped. They are also running a sale this month and they are charging me 650 plus tax to do the install. I am going to get the final number tomorrow My expectations are 245hp and 262lb tq. I alittle less than apr and the rest but still maintains warranty and it a few hundred cheaper.

I will let everyone know how it goes tomorrow after i get the chip.

did you go from a stock 1.8T to a 2.0T? or was your 1.8T modded?

i thought Stasis used GIAC. i remember hearing something about select Audi dealers offering warrantied GIAC flashes, they were just more expensive and a little de-tuned.

SO i took my car there and am very pissed everyone told me at the dealership that it was 695 plus tax, now they pull out this sheet that says its 1500 yet my work order clearly states on it that i was quoted 695. so they are supposed to call joe hoppen motorsports in florida who works with mtm and try to see what they can do for me. This has me VERY pissed and the guys response to why i got that quote was that all his workers were misinformed. Well that aint my damn fault, so we will see what happens. So the stasis chip is $1500 my dealership is just stupid and somehow they think it is okay to quote 695 to get you in and then upsell to a price of 1500. Major bullshit.

No...they were misinformed. Just like most people in this thread said, the STaSIS software is $1500. I would tell your dealer it was too much and your not interested. Go get a APR/GIAC/Revo chip and get a stock program to go with them. Don't tell your dealer that your are chipped and just put it in stock mode when you take it to them. If they chip your car, you warranty is gone. No matter what they tell you. Don't chip (unless STaSIS) through the dealer.

i thought it sounded too good to be true. at 695 they sure would have more takers. at 1500 its hard to find someone who has it. get revo with a select plus switch and just switch to stock when goin to the dealership. or apr and get security lockout. both have trial programs that are usually free. plus, all things equal, if u get either one and a stasis-tuned a4 pulls up to you, you show him your taillights :)

I like it, good logic. I am probably going to go the route of apr, or even mtm. I have heard of one issue with mtm and spoke with them about it and it was due to the individual not running 93 octane. This was in regards to the writeup about apr vs mtm

    Re: Stasis Chip Tuning

So here is the final result of the mishap today. I will be getting the car chipped through the dealer except MTM will provide the tuning. The specs are 245hp and 263 lb tq to almost identical to stasis. Cost is a mere $590 and Joe Hoppen Motorsport is sending their flash tool so the ECU doesnt have to be pulled out. Overall i think that is a pretty good deal and MTM is one of the best out their for Audi tuning. I will keep everyone posted, it will be about a week before its done due to shipping of the flash tool and finding time to bring my car in.

Say goodbye to your Audi engine warranty. Bad idea to do this through the dealer...

    Re: Stasis Chip Tuning

Riiiiight. Dude, you need to read it. It doesn't say they can't void your warranty. It basically says that they (audi) have to prove that the chip caused whatever failed, to fail. A DV, or PCV is no big deal. But if you blow your turbo, and the dealer knows your chipped. Guess who isn't paying for the that. Audi. And they could prove it was the chip...

Now, I am by no means saying this is going to happen. What I'm saying is that since the dealer is doing the chip, they know w/out a shadow of doubt, your car is modified. I'm just saying, and I'm not the only one here, that unless your going to get the STaSIS chip, do not ever chip through a dealership.

I even met a guy over at AWE, who wont tell the dealer he is flashed with GIAC-X b/c of warranty issues like that....

Ya i need to speak to the guy again and make sure, because he told me that they will warranty the car the same way they would if it was stasis. He said the only thing not covered by them would be the ecu, which if something happened it would be covered by mtm

Yeah, just make sure of that. Get something in writing too. That way, they have to stick to their word.

you are right that the dealer could prove it was the chip, but because of the magnusson-moss act, they would have to prove it legally. you could take audi to court over it in which case they would not want that hassle and would just fix your car.

    Re: Stasis Chip Tuning

That's a big assumption. I mean, your engine is operating above it's set from the factory levels. I don't know how you could argue anything there...

I don't mean the warranty on the entire car. I'm just talking about engine warranty, transmission, etc.
