Just installed track density transmission mount....vibrations from HELL!!

Just finished installing the track density track density tranny mount and I am definetly taken aback.

Shifts are nice and clean now. No more clunking inbetween gears, especially 3-4 which would always produce a nice clunking sound.....so

But the vibrations were nothing what I had expected! I was assuming that I would get a slight shake JUST at idle, but the whole car is literally shaking when I give it throttle and take off. Ironically at idle, the vibrations are very minimal, but as soon as I start moving, I can hear my side mirror start to shake and all the coins in the holder just rattle like crazy!

Before tightening all the bolts I did let the car run and idle. There is just no way that this mount is this harsh. It vibrates all the way through the powerband.

Tomorrow, I am going to loosen everything and let it idle again, since the mount is a LITTLE uneven along the transmission crossmember, so I am hoping that, somehow, realigning it will atleast reduce the vibrations past idle.

So, for those with the TRACK density tranny mount, are you experiencing bad vibrations as well? I know to expect some, but like I said, I was only anticipating vibrations at idle and not through the rest of the powerband.....

Crazy how? Have you noticed the change in Euro to USD exchange? It isn't like the parts are mass produced in this country seeing that they are made by a company that makes OEM parts for german cars. Its pretty simple to figure out if the costs go up to produce a part the retail price is going to do the same thing. They only went up a little more then 26%.

BTW why would you put a track density mount on a daily driver?

Why not? I have owned alot other cars that were way worse than what my audi is feeling like now. Its just that I didnt expect it too be THIS bad Furthermore, there is no way that the mount can produce this many more vibrations.

I have the mount back off right now (since it needed to be realigned, and this time around I will loosen the motor and snub mounts and let it all "idle" into position before tightening them all down.

I think there are plenty of other threads about the B6 tranny mount, might want to read those too. IIRC they said that the mount was slightly taller then the stock one which changes the angle of the transmission causing more vibrations and I think that was with the street density. Now this might not be a problem if your also running 034 engine mounts.

If you think about it makes sense seeing that you said at idle it is ok but it is when you start moving that you get a bad vibration and thats when your driveshaft is spinning. You might want to measure the OEM mount vs 034 mount and the distance of the transmission when each one is installed.

Thanks Mike for the help. I indeed did read all those threads (that 5+ page one) and the DIY over on Audigeeks.

For the record, the track density tranny mount is indeed about 1/8" taller than the stock OEM mount, therefore "unseating" the snub mount (I have the APR one). So all that was needed was to loosen the tranny mount again, loosen the snub mount, and let it all "idle" into place. Tightened it all down while the car was still idleing and it fixed it 100%. Obviously there are some extra vibrations from the solid mount, but only me as the driver would notice.

So, I am MUCH happier with this mount now and it is definetly totally tolerable.

Re: Just installed track density transmission mount....vibrations from HELL!!

034 sent me a track density tranny mount by mistake the first time. I ran it for about 4 days. My mechanic says the car sounded like a DTM car. Until I hit about 5K rpms all I heard were the rattles, vibration, transmission whine, gears, etc. Only after 5K rpms I was able to hear the engine/exhaust lol. A bit too hardcore for me.

No problems with the street density mount that I've been running since August 2007.

Exactly, maybe yours was not seated correctly. Last night driving around sounded like I had straight-cut gears...the transmission whine was unbelievable. Sounded cool, but no thanks. But this morning after realigning the snub, trans mount, etc....no more whine from the tranny!

Is that safe to run them thought with all these vibrations??? Cause that might be a cool mod for some hardcore sound:)))

Perhaps, but we tried seating the mount and adjusting the snub mount (unbolting literally everything basically), but it was still too much.

Not sure about safe or not, but it's simply too much for a DD imo.

Just went through a long drive in traffic and it seems like a new array of sounds have popped up.

The one thing I am aware of now is that since the transmission sits up about 1/8" higher, would that affect the driveshaft bearing? From a stop, I can hear (what sounds like) a creaking door, until about 10mph.

    Any ideas?

Did you put the washer from the stock mount on the new one?

Are you reffering to that metal plate? If so, then NO, I did not transfer it to the 034 mount.

EDIT** Are you talking about the piece in the guys hand?
