never heard of this code before:

18014 Rough Road/Torque Signal from ABS Electrical Malfunction

    and

17963 Charge Pressure Max limit exceeded

    what do these two mean?

Re: never heard of this code before:

    1. ABS module is dead.

    2. Your car overboosted by more than 3 (IIRC) psi.

I believe the ABS code means the ABS module has crapped out -- you can get them from the dealer. IIRC, you don't need the whole thing, just the electrical part.

Or, the good news could be that you just spun a tire :)

Re: never heard of this code before:

how can i have a dead abs mod. if my abs and brake lights arent turned on? the code comes and goes. ill clear it with vag, then itll come back in 30 miles roughly. the code turned up right after i did my wheel bearing which means i pulled out my abs sensor... its not the sensor?

I cant hit more than 5 pounds of boost while driving right now because my clutch is basically dead, so how could i over boost?

You can 'overboost' with a bad N75.

Not sure about the ABS modulator -- i've just heard that the electrical portion of it goes bad and causes that code.

Re: never heard of this code before:

my abs mod. died a while ago, and i had the infamous blinking abs light and brake light. i then replaced it with a rebuilt one. (mine couldnt be rebuilt so i bought a rebuilt one) and it worked fine. i would think its something with the sensor, because i was fiddling with it exactly prior to the code popping up. the cel is gone now, but ill try slamming the brakes now and see what happens, and again when the cel comes back on.

like i said i cant boost more than 5 lbs, but i do have a vast mbc in place of my n75.. n75 is still plugged in electronically, but not to any vac. lines <- could that be the source of the "overboosting"?

If it were that sensor, you'd have a different code. The code you have, IME, is only caused by a mad ABS module. There is a series of very tiny wires in the module that are soldered to the circuit board. Over time (and bumpy roads) there is one wire in particular that likes to come unsoldered. For a while you just get intermittent codes when hitting bumps etc because the connection is broken. Eventually, the wire comes right off the board and you'll get ABS and brake light on every time you drive the car with 3 beeps and you'll get the code that you got.

If you have a bad N75 the car will tend to overboost. Even if you're only hitting 5psi, there's a chance that the ECU is requesting 2 and you're hitting 5.

You can try playing with (or replacing) the sensor and see if that fixes the problem, but like I said, I've only ever seen that code in relation to a dead ABS module.

About the MBC, it depends on what you have the MBC set to and what kind of software you're running. If the software is designed for N75 control, then you'll get over and under boosting codes depending on what boost level the MBC is set to. I would just clear the code and see if it comes back. If so, log the car and see what's going on.

Just go log block 115 and we can figure out the overboosting problem.

my friend with the vag com left the country for a few weeks, so no logs :-(

he cleared it the other day, so i drove it today with the cel off, slammed on the brakes and abs worked fine. ill try it once the cel comes back.
