    how to remove card holder?

hey guys, i need your help. i'd like to run my ipod cables into my card holder tray. i've searched and found threads that point out how to remove the card tray in B6 A4's, but it looks to be a bit different from our B7's. i've removed my stereo, and the trim piece that goes above the console, but i can't seem to figure out how to get the card tray unit out.

can anyone offer any words of wisdom?

    search!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    jping,

i had the same question, what you do is there is a umm cover above the tray..use a screw driver to pop that up.

then when you see the tray, there is some tabs top and bottom, then you use the flat head to push the tabs and then pull forward.

    ill try to take pics.

Re: how to remove card holder?

Anyone done this? I have a 2007 A4 and I do not see any release tabs to pull the Card Tray/ Holder out. It looks like the space where the dead button occupies is joined to the card holder well. My card got jammed in the card holder and somehow slipped behind the tray. Would it be safe to say that my card is behind my radio, or is there a bottom to the card holder well which would prevent it from falling down into the radio wiring? If there is a bottom, how do I get the tray out!!!

You use 2 small screwdrivers to put the tabs that are on THE TOP of the carholder chassis that currently are engaged to the trim frame.

If you look carefully you should find two small slots where the clips are. Here is a picture of my cupholder which should give you an idea of where they would be.

More details on the cupholder mod are here: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=195375

i'm using the DICE unit. it's nice because my 3rd gen nano fits perfect in the card slot. i ended up fishing the wire through the front, under the trim piece. i'll see if i can fish it through the back when i have more time.

btw., winston, your profec install is awesome!
