    Kumho Ecsta SPT Review

I have a set of these tires in 245/35/19 slapped on my car. The grip in both dry and wet is amazing. The tires look great. The treadwear is impressive, but the only thing I do notice about these tires is that they get louder as you wear them out. I'm not sure if it's because it's a 35 sidewall but they hum when you come to a stop.

How many KM's have you put on the tires?

I've driven roughly 8,000 KM's on mine and the humming noise does annoy me everytime I come to a stop. I also noticed that the impact noise is louder than most other tires I've had before. Other than that, the tires are great!

alot of the khumo's have the humm to them. I am not sure if it is the design of the tires or the casing/belts that they use. But my MX's did the same thing within 1k miles. The old 712's did the same thing. I still love the performance of the MX's so i deal with the hum.

Had the same noise, plus they have a weak sidewall which could prove problematic for 19's :(. They are also known to be hard to balance on 19s.
But for the $, they have great grip

Stickier tires tend to get louder the more miles you put on them. Its hard to get the best of both worlds. The humming is normal, because of the compound its made out of, so dont worry.

My sidewalls seem pretty strong. Stronger then exclaims at least. I only notice the noise on crappy roads and since I'm on 19s, I'd imagine I'd hear noise on any road on any tire.

So far so good, about 5k so far. I'll see how long they last to determine if I'll keep them or replace them.

You must have been underinflated...common cause of bent rims.

Here in Manila where there are potholes galore, having the right pressure is a must.

I put in 34psi using nitrogen (not usual air) and the Ecstas are stable, firm, quiet, and comfy.

    Re: Kumho Ecsta SPT Review

I run SPT's for daily, and PS2's for track days. After 10k miles my SPT's are down to around 20% and I can also say that they *get* loud, but not surprising since tires get loud as the grooves wear down. But hey, for street tires, you get really good bang for the buck!
