Refinishing the Sportecs-Satin Black or Graphite

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I now have some time to refinish my Sportecs. They are a lil roughed up but I am going to refinish them with aluminum brazing rods. I saw my uncle use them to repair his mustang wheels and I'm going to do it.

Now the question is should I go Satin Black or Graphite on a black B6 USP. I'm just going to use rattle can Duplicolor Wheel finish as I had great success with it in the past and would like to keep this low cost.

    please input.

They are flat black right now right? Try the graphite for something new and finish your BAT build.. :)

I think graphite would look good or maybe gunmetal.

Nope-, they are brushed finished. As for the BAT, I had an issue with my trust not paying taxes for a while so I had to fork over about 6K for that. but I'm back on track for getting my build underway. I'm thinking of either sourcing it out to Jake or getting a local builder to do it. It's still in the air. Also to go Unitronics or Revo is the prob. I have two blocks and an AEB head sitting in my garage ;)

Brushed is the best look for those wheels imho.

    Update-
I started getting at them and I realized that after the first coat that it was not a paint like substance but like the whole wheel was dipped into a thin coat of plastic. Hard to explain but, it was taking too many coats but I'm going to go get them hot tanked and then braze them to fill in the curb rash from hell. With brushed metal do you need a clear coat or just leave be?

Re: Refinishing the Sportecs-Satin Black or Graphite

So they are down to bare metal and I have just got my USP complete. My thing now is to go flat black on them for temporary until I can get them powdercoated in the spring or rough it out

Re: Refinishing the Sportecs-Satin Black or Graphite

They are one coat away from be done. When I was redoing my grills with plasti dip I realized that I still need to figure what to do with the Sportec Center Caps? Should I paint them flat black, gloss black, or keep them brushed.

Re: Refinishing the Sportecs-Satin Black or Graphite

These pics are with their last coat. I am doing this as a temporary solution. There are about 5-6 coats on it but they are light so about 3 medium coats.

I had an issue with the duplicolor spray not laying wet and would put the paint as a fine powder.

I'm going to go over it lightly with some steel wool to get the surface blemishs you can see.

Overall not bad but I need to what the center caps look on it. Keep them brushed or black that shit out.

Also after this coat dries I'm going to spray the inside drum with flat black too .

Looks good man. Might as well black out the caps too. Unless you can find a black cap with the silver rings on it. That might look good.
