    B5 2.8 trans in B6? Questions.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've heard of people doing these swaps, and I found a B5 2.8 trans/diff at a local wrecker. What are the primary advantages of a swap like this? At what power level does it become "necessary"? Would you bother on a 1.8T that probably wont see anything more than a K04 on meth?

only do it if you need to otherwise there is no real benifit to doing it and it requires swithing some things it is not hard. Clint helped me swap mine. Clint is the person to talk to about this swap.

if the transmission is really really cheap, i'd get it just for longer 5th gear. 5th on the v6 is same as 6th in the 04+. 75mph at 3000rpm

PM me if you need more info about this. Basically your sacrificing some cruising ability around town for highway MPG... This doesnt help you with power necessarily, your car may be a tad bit slower... Its preference really

I run one now that I blew my old trans FWIW

Well, my current trans is fine, and most of my driving is around town anyway, so I probably wont bother. I didn't get a price on it, but it would likely have been pretty cheap. What is "really really" cheap for this trans?
